Georgetown RD Lounge

Eh, for all us non-EAers
plus i guess it's for those deferred in December.

You guys working on the essays and what not?
Has everyone sent in their personal data forms?
How long does it usually take to get confirmation and the ID#?

Just to spark some conversation us I guess.

I haven't gotten the application yet. I don't know what's going on but I requested an app like, two weeks ago and nothing yet. I might just end up printing it out from the online version.

How hard is it to get into Georgetown compared to say, Yale and Princeton? My guidance counselor told me that Georgetown is really political in their admissions process and has feeder schools. He also said that for me as a public school kid from NJ, I'm probably not going to get in even though I have 1480, 4.4 GPA etc...

Harvard and Yale have admissions rate of around 10% while Georgetown is around 20%. So its easier to get into Georgetown. Your stats are fairly high, so you are a good candidate either way!

Hmm, not sure, I hope not though. I doubt they are as selective as Ivy's, as aluka mentioned their admissions rate is in the 20s.

Those are really good stats though, similar to mine too: 1460 SAT, 3.92 unweighted gpa.

I actually just got my verification of the personal data form via email. . .yay.

how long after you got the email notification of Part 1 were you contacted by the local interviewer? It's been 3.5 weeks. I've read to wait 2 weeks and 4 weeks (which one?) before i should call admissions/send a letter to local interviewer.

Are they so focused on EA now that we're left behind? I don't want to be pushy, but i'm a tad worried.

I just decided to apply to Georgetown. Although I may or may not send in the actual application (depending on a certain letter I'll get from another university around December 15), I'm still excited about the choice. I'll probably download the app next week or so, but I just wanted to drop in and say "howdy." So...howdy, all!

I sent in my part 1 a while ago because even if I get in to my first choice early, I still want to hear from GTown because it'll be a tough choice between my top choice and this kick ass school in DC.
Anyway, I had my interview the other day. It was absolutely awesome. Definitely not a bad time.
I'll probably be sending off the rest of my app soon (Thanksgiving break just started, so probably in these coming days).
Good luck to y'all.

wow...yeah, i dont think im gonna apply to gtown anymore...1340SAT/30ACT, 4.0 UW gpa...it seems like ill be in the 10th percentile of applicant pool, if that

I got in last year with a 1360 (I took a year off). I'm sure that you will have excellent chances, as long as you write a good essay and have good EC's. You'll never know if you don't try!

thanks...i hope i have the same type of luck you have...my extracurriculars are good, lot of clubs, hours spent per week, a few leadership/officer positions, 350+ hrs comm. service...oh, i was wondering, do RD applicants have to complete an interview by a certain time? or is there even an interview?

What's up? I'm still deciding if I want to apply to the College or SFS. In either case the biggest draw to coming to Georgetown would definitely be the connection it has with Capitol Hill, and all the possible economics/politics I could take here. Plus DC is an awesome city, and a new baseball team is coming next spring!

I faced a similar dilemma, but I chose to apply to the College. My prospective major is government, as opposed to international politics at SFS. I picked the college because there are more freedoms with classes, and (I'm assuming now) the education is more founded with a liberal arts tradition than SFS. Internship opportunities are essentially the same. It really comes down to which major you think will take you the furthest, in my opinion.
