I think I might of already asked this before, but I don't remember. Since there is no data on current students thought I'd ask again. What is your GPA as of now? What is considered a good GPA in general and for med school anticipated students?

I don’t know about freshman but the average for all students is somewhere around a 3.1-3.3. I have a 3.23 GPA after getting a 2.6 my first quarter and 3.79 my second quarter (switching from Engineering to Business). I’m looking for a 3.5+ this quarter, too. They say that you need AT LEAST a 3.6 to get a shot at Med School.

@uw2014 Did your GPA increase significantly because business courses are easier than engineering courses or because you worked harder?

It really depends on the person and what they like. In general, I’d say that, yes, engineering courses are harder than business courses. I also find that if you’re good at pre-engineering courses you’ll do well in pre-business courses (like econ). But if you’re good at pre-business courses it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll do well in pre-engineering.

It’s not that I didn’t work hard when I took pre-engineering courses, it was because that stuff didn’t come to me as easily and in the end those grades slipped away from me. I’m working equally as hard but am enjoying pre-business courses a lot more than pre-engineering.
