you think its possible if i join like 5+ sports clubs? and swim at least a mile (about 35 minutes)/sprints (30 minutes maybe) every day? while taking 15 credit hours?

how should i arrange my classes? im planning on waking up at 6 in the morning just to hit up the pool. i dont plan on having class on saturdays or sundays...

i wanna have 5 hours a day, 3 days - something similar. the thing is i want to have less days, more hours bunched up together like the above example. something like 3 hours 5 days irks me because it would remind me of high school's hours. i'd like to have thursdays-sundays free - is that possible? (obviously an example, as long as i have 4 days of the week free - i'm okay)

Wow. You’re in for a rude awakening!

why do you say that?

Honestly, that sounds like a lot. I took 15 credit hours last semester thinking it would be no problem and I struggled a bit. It also depends on your major. If you’re a science major, it will probably be impossible to avoid MWF classes. Also, as a freshman, you probably won’t have much leniency with your schedule. I would take it light the first semester, maybe not 12 credit hours, and get acclimated to college. That way you will get a good idea of how much free time you will have on your hands.

Yeah, your first semester that schedule isn’t going to work out unless you don’t sleep. You’re not accounting for any studying or anything it seems.

Keep in mind the general rule is that for every 1 credit hour you take, you should factor in 3 hours of studying per week. Honestly, I have found that to be a load of crap, but it’s a good base line to start with.

And pretty much no matter how you work your schedule, you are not going to get Thursday and Friday off from classes. Classes (aside from the labs that meet once a week) are M/W, M/W/F, or T/R typically. Most language classes are either M-F or M-R (some are M/W/F).

You might be lucky enough to get Fridays off from class, but you will almost guaranteed not get both Thursday AND Friday.

im majoring in math and bio…i dont mind MWF classes if its just those 3 days =]

I doubt you’re going to be able to get away with just MWF classes.

Most of the sciences have T/R labs.

well the labs are just 1-2 hours anyway right? no biggie?

im not really gonna join 5+ sports clubs. i was exaggerating - maybe 1 or two.

Labs range anywhere from about 2 hours to 3 or possibly longer. And just because they say 3 hours doesn’t mean you won’t need to spend extra time working.

Labs are also very time consuming in themselves, especially the Chemistry and Bio ones.

well, at least i dont have to take chem 1045 and its lab (AP credit) and most likely bio (he says i’m his ‘5’)- here are my other questions:

when can i register for classes?

do i just fax all of the info they need to office of admissions? e.g. immunization

will FSU determine amount of aid they give me based on my FAFSA? also, if they give me aid and it ends up being not used, does it return to the university or does it end up in my FSUcard?

You register for classes the last day of Orientation.

I think you can fax that stuff, although I believe I just mailed it all.

And FSU uses your FAFSA, although they will use your academic profile to offer you scholarships and grants.

Any aid not used to pay your Cost of Attendance is then deposited into your FSU Account at Suntrust or a check is mailed to you.

can life get any better now?

Just join the triathlon club and you can do three sports with just one club: running, swimming, cycling!

nah, different goals. i’d be sprinting instead of endurance running, road-biking/mountain-biking instead of tri-biking, etc…thanks for the tip though!

There are clubs and activities at FSU for every interest. Work your extra activities around your class schedule, don’t try to work your class schedule around your extra activities–you don’t want to get priorities backwards if you’re seeking to get the most out of FSU academically.

yeah, that’s true…i’ll see what schedule they offer me at orientation
