Now that I'm done with AP tests, I have more free time to work ahead and prepare for my freshman year at Harvard. Should I work on getting together a professional resume? I don't know how helpful this is, but I don't want to get behind everyone else. I've made unofficial resumes for recommendations, summer programs, etc...I just think it would be nice to have a collection of all my accomplishments.

PS. Yes, I know my username says Stanford. I matriculated to Harvard. Bite me :p.

Yeah, I should really get around to organizing an updated resume...yay for us 2010-ers!

I think it is definitely helpful to have a professional resume...just in case you want to work with a professor or apply for an internship. I think it's a convenient thing to have in college, so I've also started working on mine...but I'm sure the career office can help you create your resume once you get on campus.

My son, a freshman, didn't do a new resume until he started applying for summer positions this spring. He didn't consult with anyone, but he did two different types: one geared specifically for science research positions, highlighting those relevant accomplishments; and one more generic one used for a funding application. The benefit of waiting until second semester is he was able to include relevant coursework.

Yeah, maybe my understanding of a professional resume is off, since I just have mine typed up in a word document, so it's easy to edit and update....anyways I guess I'll figure it out once I get on campus.
