You can do GSP and then Stern in 4 years.

The accepted rate for Stern is in the low 20% range.

You will know if you are in soon.

i just applied not ED i am RD soo HELLO APRIL

I don't get it... so students ar CAS or GSP need to pay for printing??? They don't have libraries where students can print withouth paying for it???

Plus... if I applied to CAS and was referred to GSP, how likely is it that I would be accepted to Stern? Would the chance be lower than students who undergo the same process from CAS?

If I am not accepted to Stern for internal transfer after 2 years at GSP, would I be able to apply to CAS(guaranteed acceptance)?

wait so lets say u do gsp for 2 yrs, then u transfer to stern would u have to do stern 2yrs or 4yrs.

stern for 2 years

"I don't get it... so students ar CAS or GSP need to pay for printing??? They don't have libraries where students can print withouth paying for it???"

Yes, that's correct.

"Plus... if I applied to CAS and was referred to GSP, how likely is it that I would be accepted to Stern? Would the chance be lower than students who undergo the same process from CAS?"

It depends on how you "fit" the school...if you want to do business, apply to Stern, and let your desire to study business show in your application.

"If I am not accepted to Stern for internal transfer after 2 years at GSP, would I be able to apply to CAS(guaranteed acceptance)?"

If you start out on the normal GSP track, you cannot apply to Stern as an internal transfer because you wouldn't have taken the required courses in time.

how are my chances of getting into stern or gsp if i have a 1350 SAT(740 math) ( one time score)and a 3.56 unweighted GPA(4.15weighted) top 18%. fairly active in extra-curriculars,track(V) and cricket teams.
Most Stern applicants have at least a 1400 SAT score...you may get GSP if you apply.

wait i applied stern regd, is there a seperate app for GSP or am either deferrred to gsp by stern or just flat out denied

My intended major is economics so I will take classes at Stern if possible and necessary. If I have prerequisites done for internal transfer to Stern, then would I be able to apply to it?

My guess is that as a GSP student it would be very difficult to take Stern classses because you have to to fulfill the all the GSP requirements...but you might want to discuss this with an academic advisor.

I think I can take some electives at other schools... I read requirements for GSP and they were only 40 credits(including math/science which I don't need to take)

Well in that case, you probably could.

I received my acceptance to GSP on the 4th, and I was absolutely ecstatic because NYU has been my dream school for years. I'm only allowed to stay in commuting range, so if it wasn't NYU, it would have been SUNY Stony brook (I'm hoping the GSP program is a better education than one Stony Brook would provide). I was really excited until I saw all of these posts about GSP, so I have a few questions.

What building do you attend your classes in? From the tour that I went on over the summer, I think that each school has a separate building, so is there a separate building for GSP students or are the classes held in the Arts and Science building?
Do you think attending GSP lessened the "great college experience" for you?
As a GSP student, do you at times feel underqualified to be at NYU?

First of all, I didn't mean to sound overly negative in my previous responses. GSP is not a BAD program by any means...it would definitely be better than a SUNY education. The GSP program will give you a strong grounding in the liberal arts and this prepares you very well for you major. In fact, the dean of CAS himself stated that students who began their careers in GSP generally graduate with higher GPA's than those who began their college career in CAS.

As a GSP student, you will take most of your classes in the Arts and Sciences building...some classes, such as science recitations, are taken at other NYU buildings such as 194 Mercer Street or Cooper Square.

GSP definitely did not lessen the college experience for me by any means...it was just being at NYU itself that did, because as you probably know NYU is very different than other colleges. However, if you decided to come here, like I did, then you would be prepared for this.

No, I do not feel under-qualified to be at NYU because in the end I will graduate with the same degree as someone who began here in CAS.

Ultimately, the GSP program is great if you are planning to transfer after a year or two the rigorous liberal arts education you get coupled with small classes and professors who know you can really help you be prepared for the transfer admissions process and the workload at more academically demanding schools.

Thanks for your reply, my parade was getting rained on just a bit by the negative comments I had been seeing on this forum about GSP. But that definitely relieves my worries, so thank you.

hey wat were ur stats and which school did u originally apply to

To Shoot- my son is a freshman- GSP- loves it all- The dorm (even tho he's in LCT), the food, the city, his roommates, the professors. He is friends with kids from all the schools- no stigma at all. He was math/science wiz in HS but seems to enjoy his GSP classes without taking ANY math or science this year since he placed out of the science with his AP exams.
Go and have a great time and make up your own mind.

To- Scrowman,

what were your sons stats(GPA SAT etc) cause I have been told that stern would be a slight reach for me but GSP is a maybe soo
