Current studenf scholarships

So after deciding to attend IU this fall, I’m just curious what kind of scholarships are available once I’m a current student, whether it be based upon GPA, student involvement, race, or other factors. I’m just trying to see what I can do to bring the costs of attendance down over the next four years. Thanks.

Do apply for IU foundation scholarships (next Feb,March) If you are interested in over seas, check out programs early and talk with the office of overseas studies sometime Freshman year to maximize grant opportunities. Many campus organizations offer scholarships to upper class students. Look for volunteer internships with professors. These sometimes turn into paid research assistant positions. If you are in the honors college they can direct you. If you are not, you will be invited to join sophomore year if your GPA meets criteria. Look for grants and scholarships October through March.

There are some opportunities, but I wouldn’t count on getting any scholarships while a student. Sometimes you will get emails about them, but they are often for small amounts (1k or less) and have a ton of people applying, so your chances aren’t very good. I know the honors college often has research grants, but that won’t help pay for tuition.
