Current student to offer insight

Hey everyone,

I've been reading this for quite some time now and am offering to answer questions. I'm a senior choral music education major, so if anyone had any questions related to the College of Music in particular (I'm a student advisor for the department), I will be more than happy to answer them. I'm also knowledgeable in other areas and will do the best I can to positively share the seasoned student view of experiences at FSU.

ChoralFanatico - thank you so much for offering an experienced student view!

Thanks! We will be visiting FSU in 2 weeks for a college tour.

i have son who is a junior in HS. his older brother started this summer and loves fsu. Son 2 is interested in majoring in history poly sci. however he loves music as a hobby. he didnt pursue music in high school but is part a rock band that performs monthly. he would love to take electives in music singing at fsu. is this possible? or do the music classes get filled by majors? what about clubs or other opportunities for him to get involved in music even if he isnt a major??

Thanks for offering the help! Many prospective students of Florida State want to hear from current students of the university.

Go 'Noles!

blueskymom,

The College of Music offers several choral ensembles for students of all levels if he would like to sing more. You can find more at the choral department's website. FSU College of Music . Academic Programs . Choral Department
There are several music courses offered throughout the year for interested non-music majors, including those in theory, various music history courses, and the possibility of private lessons. Also, FSU offers 4 national music fraternities/sororities and 3 a cappella groups. You can PM me if you'd like to know more.
