Hello prospective student! I am a current student at Sewanee and I wanted to be here so that I could answer any questions anyone of you may have. I am not directly affiliated with the Office of Admissions so I will give you everything from a students prospective, the truth.

My daughter is considering Sewanee. It is much different than the larger, urban schools she is considering. Are there plenty of activities at the University and in the area to occupy your time outside of class and studies? What is your favorite trait of Sewanee?

My best advice about Sewanee is to come and visit and to take in the beauty that is our campus. And often people are worried that Sewanee is isolated from cities and urban environments, but I disagree with that. We are only 45 minutes away from Chattanooga, TN and only 1hr 15 minutes away from Nashville.
Even while on the domain, there is plenty to do. It all depends on how involved your child wants to be in their day. There are plenty of activities for her though. The outreach program is always going on different trips in the local community, every weekend and often during the week. SOP, Sewanee Outing Program, offers countless trips during the week, in the warmer weather often 3-4 trips in one week. You can get involved in countless clubs, as Sewanee is home to over 120 different clubs.
My favorite trait about Sewanee has to be the community here on campus. Everyone is very inclusive and accepting of everyone no matter where they came from or who they are.

Thanks for the info. We are planning on visiting in July.
