What are the things you like most about Michigan?

i'm guessing the food :)

Umm... Dorm food is definitely not on my list. ;)

However, some of my favorite things about Michigan are (not in order):

1.) the Diag (lots of strange things go down there...)
2.) Bubble Island
3.) the proximity to numerous stores and restaurants
4.) the instructors who recognize and make a point to say hi to you when they see you outside of class
5.) Michigan Time when you have back-to-back classes that are not very close to each other (Classes start ten minutes after they say they do on schedules. So if a class starts at 10, it really doesn't begin until 10:10 to allow time to pass between classes.)
6.) the liklihood of seeing friends just walking around campus... It's really not a big place once you get to know it.
7.) the squirrels... Hey, I'm in the Squirrel Club so what can I say!
8.) Dance Marathon (a.k.a. UMDM) even though it hurt like hell to stand for thirty hours... However, the line dance was soooo much fun!
9.) the ability to easily find quiet and lively places to study on and around campus
10.) Ann Arbor in general

I'm sure I can think of more, but I just don't feel like it right now.

lol reeses... bubble island=amazing

and my friend just did UMDM this weekend

I disagree with Bubble Island. I don't know about their tea, but their bubble smoothies are sick, they don't even use real fruit. I worked in an Asian neighborhood over the summer that used real fruit and a homemade syrup....SOOOOOO MUCH better than Bubble Island. It's a cheap imitation really. I agree with most of reeses' stuff though. The Diag is an awesome place where stuff is always happening (today I ate tons of free pizza at the Taste of Michigan and won a shirt in a game of root beer flip-cup). The feel of Ann Arbor is the perfect mix of small town and big city, Michigan time is priceless when waking up and trying to squeeze out another 10 minutes of sleep, and I'd like to add that the dorm community (especially if you live in a quad) and the athletic unity are really unbeatable. I also love that I'm surrounded by people smarter than me. There's so much here for me to learn. The diversity here is also really sweet. Oh yeah, and UMDM was awesome too. Who doesnn't love a 1000-person rave?

Reeses, I am sure Chibearsfan would gladly offer you his foot-rubbing services to relieve your aches and pains! hehe

I loved so many things about my Michigan experience. Campus life, hanging out with friends, learning from and with the best, campus activities (music, social and sporitng events), walking up and down the streets of Ann Arbor (I have travelled to over 40 countries and lived in 7 countries on 5 continents and I can honesty say that Ann Arbor is one of the most amazing places I have ever been to), sharing ideas on anything with intellectually stimulated and curious students from all parts of the world and all walks of life etc... I envy you guys. I wish I could just go back to university and spend another 4 years in Ann Arbor.

reese: I love the squirrels too.

I'm not an undergrad alum, am I qualified to answer?

North Campus, most people at Michigan have never even been on North campus, the architecture is better, the diag is better, the library is better, the computer labs are better, the food is so bad.

Law Library- the best place to study, u can pretend to be an ivy student in this atmosphere.

Museums- Michigan has a lot of good museums, that unfortunately many undergrads never even notice.

TK Wu: Probably the best chinese restaurant on campus.

That's what I'm talking about NYao!

Summer vacation beginning in April.

All the little eateries and shops around campus.

How easy it is to find a nice place to study.

FOOTBALL

Entr

To make this short, I love everything about the University of Michigan period lol

The community feeling though it is a big place
The many many restaurants
The friendly cops (seriosuly!)
The entire city runs on the college schedule so it is easy to get vacations from work and school at the same time
The historic houses
the way it is SO beautiful in the summer (not so much in winter)
The Arb...the biggest park/nature preserve in the area within walking distance of campus...free to visit
The fact that EVERYTHING is in walking distance (except North Campus)
The professors
The historic Michigan theater, which gets all sorts of movies and music concerts and is about 1 block from campus
The squirrels!

Parking is not fun though, so it is hard to have a car while living in the dorms.

nor is the winter...Ann Arbor does NOT know what to do when it snows, so slippery sidewalks, non-plowed roads.

If you get sick of everything feeling college-ey, it's hard to escape unless you have a car to drive out past campus zones...made harder by #1
