Are there any current students out there that are willing to share pictures from their dorm rooms? It would be nice to see how things were organized for incoming students to plan.
If anyone has them, please post the pictures and which hall and type of room (i.e., Park-Strad, double, etc.). My D will be on north campus and I am finding it difficult to plan what to buy for storage, etc. without seeing the space, so it may help others to see these pictures as well.
Assume in any dorm room your kid will have a small closet (need hangers), will need a clothes hamper, and will have some under the bed storage space (single bed). Suitcases usually have to go under the bed, too. Anything they take to school has to be moved every time they move (at least once a year), so really limit what you take. You can always ship more, pick up over the holidays, or buy via Amazon Ptime later (college students get it free for six months). You don’t really have much room for storage container except maybe part of the under the bed space and maybe floor of the small closet in any dorm room (but the hamper has to live somewhere).
I’m aware of all of the above - I was asking current students to post pics of their dorm rooms so others could get ideas on organizing. I can see from the diagram and a visit to an empty room what the space is like - how others choose to organize it is a different story.
No problem. My D’s “mega” has shared pics with her, but it would have been nice to see more than one perspective. Her dorm doesn’t have any pics online at all, with the exception of a generic one in the paper. Just thought others might be helped by this as well. Four weeks and we’ll see it in person. Luckily for us, we live 20 minutes away, so it’ll be easy to do it on the fly. For others, maybe not so much. Bummer.
Check out the subreddit on reddit.com/r/osu. Thread titled “Does anybody have a panorama or pictures of a double in one of the newer North campus dorms?” has some pictures.
Yes, we checked out Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and The Container Store for storage carts. The ones Target had in the store seemed flimsy and the ones at BBB and The Container Store were either too expensive or didn’t have wheels or were also flimsy. So I took a chance on the ones that Target had online hoping they were better than the ones we saw in the store and they were. When I bought them just like a week ago they were $40 each but it seems like they are now $50.
A lot of dorms have panoramas on OSU’s housing website. Here’s the one for Smith-Steeb, scroll down to the part where it says “360 degree view of 2-person room-a/c-connector wing”
