I am trying to make my final decision, which at this point, pretty much boils down to UTD or UH. So I would appreciate some current/past students impressions on UTD. Are you satisfied with the academics, particularly engineering/cs? Do you feel the school treats you well overall; teachers, students, admin are friendly and helpful? Do you have to be the smartest of the smart to gain a teacher's (or the school's, in general,) attention/respect?

I am a biomedical engineering major, though I am interested in computer science as well.
I received a nice scholarship from UTD, which leaves only a small amount left to be paid. I am however confused on FA: are no scholarships stackable on top of my AES, even my top ten percent scholarship?

Hows the social stuff? Are there lots of things to do in Dallas near the campus? Is the on-campus food decent (I'm a vegetarian)?

Thanks for taking the time to read this guys!

Sorry, I’m a parent and not a current student and I don’t have any kids at UTD. However, I just want to encourage you to call the f. aid office (or email them) to clarify whether or not scholarships are stackable.

I think UTD’s a great school (went there for McDermott Scholars finalist weekend). I am not sure why it’s not more well regarded. The students I met in both the McDermott Scholars program as well as the honors program struck me as hard working, very intelligent, and very engaged. I also think UTD seemed to have a lot of money flowing in the school to be used for a variety of programs. I was impressed.

One of my kids is at UTD now and another is going to join her there next year.

I’ve been very pleased with the way things have gone there.

Scholarships that specify they are towards tuition/fees are not stackable with the AES scholarships. Scholarships that can be used towards things other than tuition/fees should be stackable with AES scholarships.

There are a lot of activities both on campus and in the surrounding areas. The DART bus goes right through campus and all students get a free DART pass. So you can ride the bus to downtown for all the museums.

They had an anime convention on campus last year that my daughter said was fantastic. They regularly have activities going on all over campus. You should like the general UT Dallas page and the department pages for your major on facebook to see activities.
