Current Students, What's your favorite thing?

What is your favorite thing/event/story about Wellesley?

Thanks! I'm trying to decide if it is for me or not.

Favorite thing:

Wellesley's 12" Alvan Clark refractor. :-P

Favorite thing: Galenstone Tower. It's haunted, but wonderful.

Favorite event: Shruti Laya, which I only went to once, unfortunately.

Favorite story: I forget which year it was, but the astronomy department hosted an open-observatory event during the Leonid meteor shower. It was quite cold and fifty or sixty of us students were huddled outside in blankets and coats and hats and gloves and each other. The shower wasn't all that incredible, but it was so much fun to lay on the ground outside the observatory and squeeze into tightly packed groups for warmth and laugh while we all oohed and ahhed in unison as the meteors appeared.

what's shruti laya? sounds exotic : )

Shruti Laya is an annual cultural show put on by WASAC (Wellesley Association of South Asian Cultures). I can't do it justice with a description, but the Wellesley News has a pretty good summation of last fall's show. Just search for "shruti laya" on the Wellesley home page.

It's great :-) They sell samosas and mango lassi during the intermission, and the audience is packed every single night. People wait in line for a very long time to get the seats they want.
