regarding #3 on the scholars website I read that you do not need to dorm with a scholar if you are in the program. You also don’t have to live in the scholars dorms but they highly suggest it (they are the nicest dorms on campus for freshman). If you are going to live in the scholars dorms you can have a non-scholars roommate but it is a little more difficult to make this happen and it might be a little uncomfortable for your roommate because the scholars go on trips/have extra classes together/have meetings and he/she would not be involved in those. hope this helps. I am also in scholars and am going to live in the scholars dorms.

I would suggest contacting the Smith office and confirm what you “heard” on the tour. I had understood from the Smith presentation that all direct Smith admits took “Freshman Fellows”.
This is a great program/course that my son really enjoyed and helped to make a big school, much smaller.

Hey don’t panic about it! I ran into the same issue and I switch into the Enviornment Techonology and Economy one so that I could Freshmen Fellows. All I did was email Brent the assistant director and he switched me because of the circumstances. I can get you his email if you would like but do it sooner than later. Tell your son not to drop out of scholars. By the way I am an incoming freshman.
