What I mean by that is, the expectations of a state institution are extremely high at this school for some reason, but this school is not as credible for it to have such high standards. Who agrees/disagrees with me. Maybe its because I am trying to get in the business school. Please before you respond to this thread post your year, major, and GPA.

Since apparently I have to pass a test to post here: Sophomore, English Major on Pre-Med Track, Gemstone, Honors, Writer’s House. 3.3 overall 4.0 major.

Wait? You mean colleges have high expectations of you? They don’t just hand you your degree for surviving four years without drinking yourself to death?
And this at a school that is only in the Top 50?!? And a Top 20 public? I mean really, everyone knows at any school ranked after the top 10 for publics, the only graduation requirement is the ability to write your name and possibly count to a hundred (if you want honors)

What isn’t credible about UMD? You talk about it like it’s not an accredited college…

Freshman, 4.00, University Honors, Computer Engineering. I have to agree with ginab. OK. UMD is MIT or Harvard. So what? They are very highly respected. So if you are going to get a degree from here you are going to have to work. They arent going to give everyone who gets in a degree. Honestly, there are times I wish UMD had higher expectations. I have never wished that they had lower expectations

freshman, bio (predental), honors, 4.0

your question is really just insulting. maryland is one of the best public schools in the nation so maybe that is why our expectations as a state institution seem high. but I don’t know why you would be complaining about high expectations if you’re going to be a business major, they have it pretty easy compared to some of us.
