"Current year courses" Current year = fall'12 to summer'13

Please indicate title, level (100-level, 200-level, etc.) and credit value of all courses you are "taking this year". Indicate quarter classes taken in the
same semester on the appropriate semester line. If you are not currently enrolled in college, please list the courses you took most recently.

Well, I am not sure what courses should I put in. Does current year mean academic year (fall'12-summer'13) or calender year of 2013 (Jan'13-Dec'13). I am currently enrolled for the spring'13 in my college and I also intend take courses this summer. Should I put in the courses that I have already completed (fall'12) and the ones that are in progress(spring'13)? Should I also include the courses i PLAN to take(summer'13)?

This is very confusing. Not including the summer'13 courses makes more sense since I haven't registered for those courses yet and there is no guarantee that I'll actually get the courses that I plan to take.

What do you suggest I should do?

I faced the same problem while filling up the applicant section of the College official’s report. I am supposed to include the grades for my current courses as well. I can include the grades for my fall’12 courses since they’re officially out now. Spring’13 courses are still in progress. So should I keep the grades column empty for Spring’13? What about the summer’13 courses? Am I even supposed to include courses that I am not officially enrolled for?

My first deadline is 1st February. I really don’t want to make a major mistake with the common application. So your help will be really appreciated.

Thanking you,
Shadowcat

Hello? Can anyone help here, please?

I have only a little experience with the transfer app, but your understanding seems correct. For current year courses, do academic year Fall '12-Spring '13, especially because you have not registered for Summer '13 courses and do not know what will be available.

For grades, list the finalized fall grades, and since you do not have any idea of what spring grades will be, it’s perfectly okay to leave it blank.

Thank you, purpleacorn! I am glad you agree. Do you think it will be a problem that I will take courses this summer? My finals for Summer’13 will end on 29th August. Results will be out by 5th September. Do you think most universities will be able to take final decision based on my fall’12 transcripts and spring’13 mid term reports (spring’13 transcripts will be available after application deadline)? If I get accepted anywhere do you think the university will wait till September 1st for me to move into their campuses? I currently study overseas,by the way.

Thanking you,
Shadowcat2

The move-in date is going to depend on the college. Some colleges start in late August (in which case, you would have a problem), but some don’t start until mid-September. Look at academic calendars for each of the schools you are applying to. Also make sure and note the date of any mandatory orientations, if any.

Thank you. I think I would do that right away. I haven’t submitted any of the applications yet. If any of the colleges have mandatory orientation or start classes by mid August, do you think I should contact the colleges right now? If i find any such colleges, will it make more sense to drop the college from my list all together?

It’s just that my dad doesn’t want to me to take a semester break during summer’13. What if I don’t get any enough scholarships and have to stay back in my current college all together? He just doesn’t want to take the risk and later regret find out that I can’t neither transfer my credits nor take any courses in my current university.
