Current Year Courses Help

there are three boxes per line:

Full Year/ First Semester/ First Trimester

Second Semester/ Second Trimester

Third Trimester

If i have a few half year courses can i put them on the same line or do i have to put it in the additional information because i dont have enough room.

Thank you in advanced

I don’t remember their being a limit on the number of classes you can add. I had 7 first semester and 8 the next semester and I could have added more. There should be plenty of space. Just like the add button. If your schools go by semester you only fill up the first two columns. If the add button is not working then try logging out and logging back it. Common app has been experiencing a few problems in the past day or so.

I have 4 full year courses, 3 first semester courses, and 4 second semester courses

there are eight lines and I have 11 courses

can you put two courses on the same line (not in the same box)

Box 1-Full Year/ First Semester/ First Trimester

Box 2-Second Semester/ Second Trimester

Box 3-Third Trimester

Box 1 … Box 2 … Box 3

etc.

Wow 11 courses! I guess that you can put two on the same line. Just make sure to indicate how many credits EACH one is worth. Hopefully then the college/university can make the distinction. If you can, contact your school counselor and/or the common application offices and ask him or her if there is anything else you can do. Chances are though that the college will be able to figure this out as long as those classes are all listed on your transcript and reflect the semester vs. year.

I only have one application due today. i have 7 courses first semester and 8 in the second, the 4 full year courses plus the 3 first semester courses and 4 second semester courses. I also have Physics lab, do i need to put that in?

I put the extra classes in the additional information section because it said if there is no more lines left to put it there.

If you have 7 first semester and 8 second semester then it should fit just fine. The full year courses are listed once in each semester section. I guess that I am a little confused on why you would need to put two courses in one field if you only have 7 first semester and 8 second semester.

If Physics Lab is a class that counts for any high school credit and affects your GPA then you must include it. You must include all courses that you are taking currently and will be taking second semester of your senior year.

You should put 2 semesters on each line. For example, this is how I did it:

First semester/second semester
english/english
math/math
econ/gov
science/science
PE/health

You get the idea. You should only need 8 lines.

unicameral2013 said it right!

hey …this is not my thread but i have similar kind of issue…
it also asks to report the credit value of each coarse…but my school doesn’t provide one.
We have ENG, PCM ,physical edu. whole year.
please anyone help…deadline scarring me…

My school doesn’t provide credit value either, I just didn’t put it. Don’t worry you’ll be fine.

Quick question… Since full year/first semester is listed on the first line, I put all my full year courses there and then my one semester class. Then for 2nd semester I only put my one only 2nd semester class (even though I’m obviously taking my full year classes 2nd semester). That’s how I interpreted it so is that ok?

Your full year courses are technically two semesters therefore you list them twice. Once on a line under each semester. The semester classes you obviously just list under which semester you are taking them. This way the college knows that you intend to take the course for a full year and don’t intend to drop the class. That is how my college and high school counselors showed me how to do it. As long as you listed the appropriate number of credits next to each courses, especially the full year courses, you should be fine. For example each semester of the full year course gets 1 credit so if you put the full year course under only one section (first semester) just list the number of credits as 2. I don’t think this should be a problem but if you forgot to list the credits email the college board office and see if there is any way of fixing it because the way you did it might be confusing to colleges.

Just remember to fix it on the mid-year report though. if the colleges are confused or have questions they should email or call you.

The first box says “Box 1-Full Year/ First Semester/ First Trimester,” so you only have to list full year courses once. Runnergurl has done this correctly. If you have a first semester course and a second semester course, you list them on the same line (put the second semester course in box 2) to indicate that one is “replacing” the other second semester.

deckthehalls: That makes sense too now that I think about it. My school does it a little differently because even if its a “full year course” you have to sign up for it again for second semester. I guess it just depends on your school and how you interpret it. And the replacing of classes per line I wasn’t aware of (although it makes sense), I just did that automatically. Good tip, thanks!
