Currently a junior, aiming for MIT but fine with getting in Cornell...

Currently my resume:
-4.537 weighted GPA (4.00 unweighted) (ranked 1st in my class out of ~230 students)
-I am enrolled in 4 AP classes right now (Lang. & Comp., Calc BC, US History, and Biology) -- I took AP Calc AB last year and got a 5 on the test
-I am a member of my school's math club, physics club, Key Club, Interact Club (similar to Key Club), and academic challenge
-In the school math honor society, science honor society, foreign language honor society, and National English Honor Society as well as the National Honor Society

What I know I'm missing:
-SAT/ACT/SAT Subject Test scores (haven't taken any of the aforementioned tests yet)
-Leadership roles
-Perhaps an internship?

I am just wondering to what extent and how I can fulfill the above stated gaps in my resume.

MIT is a tough college for any applicant.

You could definitely use some leadership and a 2300+ on the SAT or the ACT equivalent… as for subject tests, aim for 800s in the Math II and any science subjects you take, and 760+ for humanities subject tests if you need them. I’d highly recommend prepping and taking these exams ASAP in case you don’t get the scores you want so you can retake them.

You don’t need an internship but it’d be nice.

MIT looks at a lot more than just grades and ECs, though - they pay a lot of attention to personality and things like that, so… it’s really hard to say with just your scores.

Anyway, my advice - worry a little less, work a little harder. And maybe look around for other colleges aside from MIT and Cornell, because you never know what you might be missing :P
