Currently, I'm hating boarding school. :D

But that's nothing new. It makes me laugh to look at all of these threads, with kids so excited for a boarding school life. HA. hate life right now. i'm going to fail finals and i knew i shouldn't have come here. :( oh well...it's just a fml moment right now. i'm sure tomorrow i'll wake up and think, "Oh how ridiculous I am! Of course I love Phillips Exeter Academy!"...sike...

dam, this scares me a bit...

If you hate it so much how did u find yourself on a forum like this...? And you know you can always just go home. Im sure your not stuck there, it'd be less money for your parents. And if your on FA, more FA for someone else.

Yeah, I agree with mpicz. If you hate it at Exeter, you should go back to your public school. There are at least ten people who are lined up, ready to take your place.

I don't think its quite that easy.

Meh, there are about 100 kids who would gladly take your spot right now.

is it that you are hating PEA and the baording school experience, or are you just hating high school (cause every1 does)

Is it just me or are Exonians the most depressed students in the world. I really got that impression when I visited the campus.

benevolent: same. I found that they were very anti social. For example (it was my last interview) at my other tours I would be walking down the hall with the tour guide and everyone would stop and say "hi" ect. At exeter, I barley saw any1 doing that. It really makes an impression on a applicant.

Yes, I noticed that as well. At Hotchkiss a student waved at my family as we were driving through the front gate. Little things like that make all the difference.

Also, when watching an Exeter varsity bball game, I noticed that there were only two Exonians watching. Two, that's nothing!

Also when I walked past the health center with my tour guide, he was like "We are allowed to miss three first period classes each semester. If you are really tired and you need a break, you can sleep through class. It's great."

wow

HAHAHA!!!! "Is it just me or are Exonians the most depressed students in the world." BEST QUOTE EVER!!!! I'm totally writing that on my binder! Anyways, I guess everyone has their own opinion. I LOVED Exeter. I totally had the opposite experience! Everyone was really nice and social, except for the two prep boys that almost ran me over with their bikes and the random senior guy that almost hit me with a frisbee, but other than that, it was great!!!

I guess you and I are very different people...

I don't know about the OP, but I think that it's pretty common for kids to have a harder time getting used to boarding school than they anticipate. Plenty of kids post here about how they love it right away, but that's what this board selects for. It's a huge change and not all sunshine and roses.

"Also, when watching an Exeter varsity bball game, I noticed that there were only two Exonians watching. Two, that's nothing!"

Perhaps because most of them are at their own games?

Exeter has the highest counciling rate of any HADES school. Over 4 years, over 60% of the students end up going to counciling for "significant" periods of time. I heard that from a teacher that I have exchanged emails with.

I have heard from many Exeter students that the work is back breaking and you either die or you win. I know two people that dropped out after two years because it was sooooo crushing. One applied for senior year, and she has become so strong... She deserves it. She became stronger than I have ever seen her and she wants to get thrown back into the flame again.

things...
Ok so exeter has 1,000+ people, during the winter season theres about 4-5 sports, and most not going on at the same time. That leaves 900+ people on the campus. ;)

They've probably got other classes, or rather, PE.

I doubt a games going on at the same time as class or P.E. Most varsity games are played ast night time. And half days are given to the students in order for them to support their players. There is no P.E going on that the time lol

As much as you would like to defend it, not everyone loves Exeter. Not everyone thinks its a great environment for highschool.

Exeter gives students half days wednesdays and saturdays to specifically attend games.

They even provide transportation if you want to attend an away game(not sure if that is all games or what...)

Maybe a bigger game was going on?

Doubt it. Their Bball team is pretty amazing, but so is their hockey team. So who knows. Maybe they were just all in their dorm being emo
