Curve for JAN 08

^ I'd retake. It won't hurt trying to be closer and closer to 2400. I believe you are talking about retaking in may?! But you could also retake in the autumn months, right?

^-nope i want to just get my SAT I over and done with in junior year so it's only march and may for me. in june i'm taking my subject tests.

i kind of don't want to fall into that whole 'take it in october' thing because i'm planning on retaking my low subject tests on that date.

hmmm, after some thought i guess i will sign up for march test. i hate how you won't know your scores for january before you sign up for march test. oh well.

i expect, based on historical data, the curves to be as follows,

CR
2 wrong = 2 raw points off = 800
3 wrong = 4 raw points off = 770
4 wrong = 5 raw points off = 760

Math

1 wrong= 780

Writing, too many variables

Oh crap. I know I have 1 wrong in math now, and 1 omission. that's 760, right?

Well that puts me at maybe an 800/770 in CR, which is good. But I doubt I got anything above 680 in math. :/

southeasttitan, I think I'm in the same position. I think I scored extremely high in CR but around a 700 in Math =</p>

I mean, technically, this is good since my last math score was a 770, and I'm aming for a high superscore. I just don't feel good about it though haha.

hey can you remind me this translation/poem section? haha i cant believe ive forgotten it totally. i remember the scientist and the asian american one. and ps that not enough information was ridic, and the cup thing was easy enough but scared me at first, it looked confusing. i think the math section with the cups was the experimental

Is the math curve as lenient as everyone is putting it out to be? Are you guys sure? I mean, I know that nobody can be 100% sure but like seriously is it going to be good? :D

So.. if I get 2 grid-ins wrong (which is like 2 omit basically haha) and 1 mc wrong do you guys think I can at least get a 750? :DDDD

Could you guys post some raw scores and what SAT scores they translated to in the math section?

If I missed one grid in, 2-3 multiple choice, and 2 omissions, is there any way to get a 700?

-crcowboyfan

I doubt it. i got 3 wrong in Oct test and got 710.
usually 3-4 multiples wrong is 700.

cowboyfan: You are probably going to get around 680.. maybe higher if the curve on this test is better than previous sats...

Thanks for the input. This was my first time taking the SAT, so I don't have anything to base it on. I took the test with no real practice or prep just to get a feel for it and how i will do.

My goal is to break 700 on the math eventually, so hopefully I can raise my score with some practice.

in october i got 6 wrong no omitted and got 680...

for those knowledgeable about the SATs...
is -3 no omits = 790 on CR considered an extremely good curve?

@ptoncollege09,
depends on which section? math reading or writing?
math would be a VERY generous curve, reading would be an average? curve, and writing depends on your essay.

edit: oh I didn't see you mention CR, haha sorry. Well usually you could get around 6-8 wrong on CR and still get a 700 on average, so I'd say that is a pretty average/somewhat generous curve.

No...
-3 on the November test was 750
-3 on December was 770 I think

I'd say -3 790 would be an extremely nice curve

"6-8 wrong on CR and still get a 700 on average"

no

-4 Dec CR 750

anyone else feel writing was really hard this time?

"6-8 wrong on CR and still get a 700 on average"

Yes, I think thats true. Back in March, which had one of the "worst" curves ever, I got 9 wrong with 1 omit and got a 680. So I'd say if I got 1 more right I would have gotten a 700, which is 8 wrong on a bad curve. That's pretty good. I think as long as you don't go over 8 wrong you are sure to be in the 700s.

omgponies, i agree. writing was evil...and i'm the editor of my paper!

Jan 07 CR -3 still an 800

-4 780
-5 760
-6 750
-10 700
