Has anyone completed the first round of candidate visitation weekend? I think there was one in late Oct. My son is heading for the Nov 16-18 version and while he attended NASS, we were wondering if there were any suggestions as to what to bring (the CVW letter was quite brief).

Also, if anyone wants to hook up with me, my wife and I will be coming in Saturday morning to attend the Navy-Temple football game that day. We're gonna join in the New Jersey Parents Assoc tailgate and try to help them out - they've got 400 turkey dinners planned for the local NJ PA mids I hear!

Email me if you'd like to connect at the game. Section 127 after the tailgate. Zap - anychance you'll be there?

Sorry my friend, but I'm afraid I'll be flying south to see the little ones that weekend. I do appreciate the invite, though. :)

You ever been to a Navy game? If not, you're in for a treat! :D

Get there early so you can watch the march-on. Usually happens about an hour before the game begins. It's pretty cool to watch. Pretty cool to be IN, too! ;)

they really don't need much, and a good rule of thumb is to take what is on the list, with a few additions, and limit it to one "backpack" bag.

-Khaki pants (no jeans)
-polo shirt is ok, as long as it is a collared shirt and free of any logos
-belt
-good walking shoes (this is the one time where I did see a lot of sneakers if you do not have another option- just make sure they are clean. If your son has a pair of loafers or boat-shoe type things I would recommend them over sneakers)
-outer jacket (getting cool down there)
-toiletries (bring sample sized ones....)... if I recall, the visiting candidates did not have a chance to shower at all, but that is dependent on a lot of things
-pillow and flannel top sheet (there may not be enough of the former for every visitor, and the latter to put on top of the racks should you get to sleep in one... and the flannel can be folded over to make a sheet AND blanket, and will be warmer than a cotton one).... do not expect the mid hosting you to unmake his/her rack to accomodate your visit, and the last thing they will want to do is remake a perfectly made rack!
-camera
-cell phone (fully charged and TURNED OFF)...use when your visit is OVER and you have to contact parents to pick you up! Better yet- have the time and place prearranged!
-pen and paper
-interested, inquisitive, attentive and POSITIVE ATTITUDE. Don't leave home without it.

That's all they really need.
Have fun! Ask TONS of questions!! Keep eyes (and ears) OPEN!!!
