According to Allison, the CW numbers are very unbalanced. A bunch of people need to switch to CW1 from CW2. People willing to switch to CW2 from CW1 will be greatly appreciated!

This isn't really helpful, but I just find it funny that this exact thing happened last year. I switched to CW1 to help them out and it ended up working out better for me.

Thanks for the post, mathwiz - I think it's all going to work out!! :D

Hi Allison,

It is going to work out. Thanks to you.

Question:

Is it still worth it to update Olin with new awards and things like that?

Not really - at this point, we feel confident in the academic abilities and accomplishments of everyone selected for CW... now it's about the potential match/fit between you and Olin and has little to do with academics and resumes anymore.

ab

thanks ab.

I recall when my daughter attended CW. . . The admissions folks said that they were satisfied that everyone selected for CW had the ability do the Olin work. They were no longer interested in GPA, test scores, etc. In fact, it seemed that talking about your scores, etc, was frowned upon--kind of in bad taste.

Everyone starts from the same point at CW.

Candidate's weekend 1 is in less than a week! Who's excited?!?!!?

Oh oh oh! Pick me, pick me!

How many of you guys are weekend 1 vs. weekend 2?

(I'll probably see you at Design Build anyway, but I'm curious)

CW1. Can't wait to meet you all!

Does anyone who attended CW 1 want to share his/her experience? What was the design project?

Please do NOT say what the design project was. It isn't the same experience if you know about it ahead of time. The internet is a wonderful thing, and experiences are great, but please, please, please- talking about the interviews and design challenges in detail is seriously frowned upon.

Sorry. I thought CW 2 will have a different design project. I do agree knowing about it ahead of time ruins some of the fun.

It's okay :) I didn't mean to be overly harsh. Be excited, though- people seemed to like Design Build a lot.

Uhm...so this past CW was essentially the best time I've had in months. You really get a feel for Olin's personality (impossible on paper!), and the people there are terrific. I didn't meet a single arrogant/rude/unsanitary/gossip-y person the entire time. Everyone's smart, everyone knows it, but nobody tries to make you aware of it.

I also loved being able to throw my purse on the ground, run off, and go back to pick it up half an hour later.

And...uhm...the food is pretty freakin' amazing.

olin is t3h 1337, olin ftw

Students and staff at Olin are simply wonderful people who made CW1 a fantastic experience. I wonder if the selection process picks great students or if the students, once they get to Olin, just become nice due to the ambience there!
Good luck to all the fellow candidates!!

haha yeah i agree cw1 was awesome. im jealous of all the kids there right now for cw2
