Now that they are over, what did you all think of Candidates Weekend and do you feel that you now have a better "feel" of what Olin is all about?

It's funny that no one has commented here---maybe for fear of jinxing themselves! Well, now that the final decisions are (presumably) made, I will comment as a parent of a candidate who knew that Olin was right for him the moment he first read about it 3 years ago!
CW was wonderful, and only served to solidify the feeling of belonging at Olin, and gave us even more insight into the students and professors etc. All the candidates we met seemed enthusiastic and talented and we left really with no idea how the final "cut" could be made easily. DS felt that he and his teammates were a perfect match, and said he would feel so crushed if anyone from his team did not make it, but realized that statistically--at least one would not.
I certainly hope the UPS truck comes back around next week, but if not, DS, and all of the other candidates will have wonderful opportunites--and will carry their passion for learning wherever they may go. The traits that brought them this far in Olin's application process, in the end, will bring them success. Good luck, everyone!!

does anyone know when we will hear olin's final decision? i remember they said something about friday the 24th, but is that the day they mail the decisions or the projected day of arrival? if the former i'm assuming we wouldn't actually get anything till monday at the earliest since UPS doesn't deliver on friday...

sorry for the obsessiveness, i just don't want to have to be so anxious about whether i'm in or not, even if i get rejected...

To answer the OP, CW was a blast, and yeah, I definitely got a "feel" for Olin.

pchan, I thought they did deliver on Friday - I'm pretty sure the CW invitations came on Friday... but unless I'm mistaken that Friday is Good Friday, so I dunno if that's a holiday for the UPS guys or not. Either way I think the admissions officers will tell us through the blog when exactly they send the stuff.

Decisions will be mailed tomorrow, March 21st, as Dean Nolan outlined during Candidates' Weekends. Some of you will receive your decisions - yes, in large envelopes! - via UPS while others of you will receive standard-sized envelopes via USPS. Please note: Some of those "thin" envelopes will contain an offer for a spot on one of our two Waiting Lists - so don't immediately think the worst and rip it to shreds!!

In addition, your decisions will be available online at https://apply.olin.edu as of 10pm EDT on Monday, March 24th. If you have been admitted, you can use the website to give us your reply to our offer of admission, as well as pay the enrollment deposit should you choose to join the Olin College Class of 2012 (and we hope you do!). ;)

Don't forget that you can always contact us if you have any questions or concerns about what happens next in the process.

Try to relax and enjoy spring!
