It was weird, one of them was in a plastic packet (like sealed) and had an elastic around it – clearly it was many envelopes which we thought odd. When we opened it hers was on top with our address and there were 13 other underneath! So 13 kids are waiting on their letters and they are in my house. I have never seen anything like that before – the only reason she got hers was it happened to be on top showing through the plastic!
Pretty bizarre. You should call the school and let them know what happened… and then maybe bring the letters back to your local post office for them to deliver to the correct people? Ask the college how they want it handled. But make sure the letters will get to the right people!
Congratulations to your child on the acceptance.
Did you call the school to tell them? do they want you to stamp and send them?
When my niece was applying to private high schools there was a mail mix up. All her friends received their letters but she didn’t. Turns out the mailman put it in the next door neighbor’s slot. They live in an older neighborhood and the mail slots go directly into the home. The neighbors were away for several months! so no way to retrieve.
My daughter is going to call when she gets home from school!
I’d call now as the parent. Admissions should know today.
I’d also contact the post office in addition to admissions-- perhaps you can bring the other letters over and the post office can redeliver them quickly especially if they are unopened and stamped.
And congrats on her acceptance!
We get other people’s mail all the time (not sure why - we don’t have a confusing address). I just stick them back in the mailbox and they find their way home. One oddity - we are an army family. I have neighbors with the same numerals on a slightly different street who are a navy family. We get each other’s military mail ALL. THE. TIME.
She called admissions and read/spelled the names for them, admissions asked her to shred them and they will be resending the letters right away.
If your daughter decides to go to that school - she will already have made friends in admissions. Not a bad start to your college career!
I imagine someone in admissions is in deep trouble today.
My guess is they were bundled together for mailing - which could have happened at the school or even by the mail person picking them up - we will never know, but I figured they would have to resend from school to ensure they were sent (again). Hopefully they use express service this time, there’s probably some anxious kids hearing about others getting in and waiting for that letter! Yes, your daughter is starting there with a gold star by her name.
