We are also Lutheran (with Norwegian immigrant ancestors), does that help at all when applying to St. Olaf? Or is it better to leave that out? I have heard that they are looking to diversify.
Does she have a chance at any of these schools?

I can’t speak about Carleton or Macalester, but your daughter is better off identifying herself as Lutheran when applying to St. Olaf. Although the college has become more diverse in recent years, it does want to maintain its Lutheran identity. If your daughter identifies herself as Lutheran it is a slight plus factor. On the negative side, of course, is that the school gets plenty of female applicants from Minnesota, so a female from Minnesota has a lesser chance than a male or someone from outside Minnesota.

Overall, though, I think your daughter would be an excellent applicant.

Very strong candidate for St Olaf and Macalester. Even though Carleton is more selective, your daughter still has a great chance there. Can someone from this thread chance me?
