If you have earned a D or F in an "a-g" course, you must repeat the course with a grade of C or better in order to apply it toward your Subject Requirement. The original D or F grade will not be included in the GPA calculation, and the new grade will be used. If you repeat a course in which you initially earned a grade of C, the second grade will not be used.

I got a D in bio my sophomore year the first semester and then got a B the next semester. Is this talking about the year grade or semesters? and if it is for the semesters do i really have to take Bio again?

Are you instate? If so, check with your guidance counselor, they should know the answer. My understanding of it was that you have to repeat any D, no matter which semester but you should check with you counselor or check with the UC you are interested in.

I never knew that your original D or F could be made up by repeating the course. Hmm... that might help my friend who was planning to go to community college. Thanks for the info, you're better than my counselor.
