DAAP, Scholarships and the Honors Program

I recently got accepted into the University of Cincinnati and I applied undecided I was just wondering how difficult it is to transfer into DAAP in your second year rather than apply as an incoming freshman. Also when are scholarship and Honors Program information sent out?

Well the correct answer is that it depends on how many spots open up, whether you would have been accepted had you applied directly as a freshman, your freshman GPA, and the records of those who you are competing against for the limited spots that might open up. So, the bottom line is try to do as well as you can your freshman year to obtain a good GPA, and discuss your desire to transfer into DAAP with your advisor. Also, confirm with DAAP their transfer policy regarding the program you are considering transferring into. Ask them directly. They have the answers. We just have opinions here.

Several years ago, a student needed a 3.5 or better in their freshmen year to transfer. I don’t know what the requirements are now. You should ask DAAP admission.

I agree with the post by Balthezar. Check with your advisor.

Congratulations! When did you apply? I applied November 29th and I’m wondering if I’ll hear anything this month…

Laurel, given that these are the holidays, and that they state that it takes anywhere from 4-6 weeks during busier application periods, I’d say you’d most likely hear back in early January. I hope it’s sooner, however. Good luck by the way.

Thank you, that was really helpful. It would be great if I hear by early January, I’m an international student and only applying to two colleges in the US so it’s a major decision for me. Thanks, fingers crossed!

Last year I received my Honors program information and acceptance in early January, as did most of the others in the program. I was notified in I think March that I had received a Cincinnatus Scholarship (and I was invited to apply for an additional diversity scholarship), but was not told how much I was going to be given until late March/early April.

I was accepted to the Architecture program but I didn’t get the aid needed so I probably won’t be able to attend. Getting in was great though  thanks!
