I can't find "Direct Hits:Volume 1 or 2" nor can I find "Rocket Review".
Everyone says that these books are helpful, well I can't find it..

I do own Barrons 2400, blue book, barrons big thick sat book...
Can these books help me achieve a 2400?

my past psat scores without absolutely no prep. Took it my freshman year..
math 600
reading 400
writing 390

sigh..... my parents think I'm an embrassment to the family.
My mom is started bragging how she was better than me during her school years, I'm still in little shock.

Barron's 2400 and the CB Blue Book are both very highly regarded. You'll improve tons by using them!

You need only to look around at improvement threads on this board to see how much studying and practicing help. Tons of people get their scores up by hundreds of points by practicing -- your first-try scores mean nothing, in the scheme of things.

Direct Hits is at lulu.
Very highly recommended. Top performer on the March, May and June SATs. Also a student from Australia reported that it did exceptionally well on the June international test. Much more efficient than memorizing Barrons.

ArtofMind, with those scores, test prep books, and test prep courses for that matter, won't do you much good. I'm not sure what grade you're in, but there are no quick fixes for the verbal section of the SAT. Bad readers get low scores on verbal, good readers get high scores. And it's not easy to go from 400 to say 600 on verbal when you've been used to not reading much good literature for 11 years and then try to cram and be a good reader in a few months. So I recommend that to improve verbal score, read more, and not Harry Potter or sci-fi either, but the newspaper and good literature. For writing, you really need to improve English grammar. It might help more to get a basic grammar book for high schoolers, rather than a test prep book. Math is okay. And why is your mom bragging that she got a better score than you did? In that case, why don't you ask her nicely if she could help you raise your score?

I found my RocketReview Book at Borders, but there was only 1 copy there so I assume they don't carry that many at any of their bookstores and I could not find it at the Barnes and Nobles Bookstore either. I found Rocket Review to be very helpful for the Critical Reading Section of the SAT and the Writing section of the SAT. Here, however, is the link to order Rocket Review from the Barnes and Nobles Website. Barnes & Noble.com - Books: The Rocket Review Revolution, by Adam Robinson, Paperback

ArtOfMind - be strong and don't give up. You can raise your scores. Don't let the cynics discourage you. If I had listened to my friends and even a few teachers I would have quit. Be a warrior!
