If you object is high school dances here is my advice.

Since Hip Hop seems to be the be all end all of high school dance music it is an obvious choice however the vast majority of hip hop classes are absolute rubbish where you jump around and do choreo… You can teach yourself how to dance well enough to impress at a high school dance just from YouTube (I recommend all of the popping and tutting tutorials). The downside to this is that when you start you are not used to the speed of the moves so you will get sweaty which you don’t need me to tell you does not bode well with girls.

Swing, I think this would be the way to go as far as lessons are concerned. Fast swing music is applicable to high school dance music; it is classy; so it will be useful both at high school dances and beyond. The only drawback is that it is partner oriented and it’s difficult to be much better than your partner is.

If you fuse hip hop moves from YouTube into swing dancing, you will be unique and it will be classy current and useful not only now but as an adult as well.

Oh and the guy who mentioned ABDC, you are not going to learn that over the summer. Quest Crew did some stuff this year that the guys who did special effects for the Matrix probably could create.

i think if a guy can do good break/hip hop that’s totally COOL
but also it’s nice to have a guy who can be formal and knows how to waltz and stuff

^Yep, b-boy. There’s actually a difference between hiphop and b-boy, and I’d say definitely go with b-boy, if you can. Obviously, you won’t become any great b-boy over the summer, but since you HAVE to choose some time of dance class then definitely b-boy.

I suggest hip hop, but ballroom and jazz are also sexy. But the way you put every down like this, it just seems very forced and awkward, if you get what I mean. I mean seriously, if you wanna dance, depending on where you live, just go hang out with some local B-Boys or dancers. Maybe join a crew/team or something. Anyways, dance isn’t something you do because your parents give you options to do something more for the summer.

But, if you truely feel like dancing, I suggest you do the tennis classes, then join the dance team or some hip hop dance club or something at your school when it starts back up after break. Take it from a B Boy who also freestyles.

And oh yeah, you can impress the girls with your breaking, freestyling, ect. But if you ever take a girl to a dance or decide to hit on one at a dance, the rest is self taught.
