Dartmouth 2008 Transfer Applicants

::sigh:: ...

I don't mean to crap on everyone's parade, but I was accepted. Hardly any financial aid though. Best of luck to everyone! To those waitlisted, I've heard that sending in another recommendation and short letter/essay is a tactically wise move. IMO

congrats wayward! if you don't mind could you please post your stats?

College: University of Southern California
GPA: 3.88
Applying as: Junior
SAT: 790V 670M 740-12W
HS GPA: 3.9
ECs: Conservatory-caliber cellist, conductor.

congrats to wayward!and thanx for sharing!
btw,doesn't dartmouth give generous financial aid?

In our case they didn't. COA at Dartmouth is 2k higher than at Yale due to higher tuition and they offered us only some Stafford loans. In comparison, Yale gave us over 27k in grants and work study.

Financial aid was terrible :(

To fellow wait listers, how's everybody doing?

stewart: i still have that small flame of hope within me... though it's getting dimmer and dimmer.

have you guys tried logging back in to your dartmouth systems? mine says "Undergraduate Prematriculation Menu," and i like to think of it as a good sign, but perhaps it's just something the system turns into at this point of the admissions process.

PierreMarie: mine says the same thing, but let's still think of it as a good sign! :)

does it say in the acceptance/rejection letter how many students applied and how many were accepted?

update for waitlister

Got off the phone with my regional representative a while ago...

There are 36 people on the transfer wait list...

35 were accepted this year into Dartmouth...

They are looking to fill 25 spots, and they are very close to that number...There was an extension given to some students that expires at the end of the day to accept the offer of admission...Tomorrow they will go through and evaluate if they need to use the wait list or not...Hold your breath...

::sigh::

stewart--wow, thanks for that!
i wonder what she means by "very close to that number"... 19? 23?

That's exactly what I was thinking, Pierre...

best luck to you guys!!

Welp...lol Another weekend of no news, Thank God for the Taste of Syracuse this weekend! I'll be at the wine court for the next 24 hours.

Absolutely Haohut. I love the Taste, each year it gets more and more chaotic, especially around 11:00 PM. Hopefully Outback will be there so I can put some more meat on the midsection with their cheese fries. Will you be attending?

For the few of you that were on the wait list to begin with, just wanted to let you know that I received word today that it is highly unlikely that they will be using the transfer wait list this year...Tomorrow they will confirm it one way or other the other...

I just received an "unofficial" email from admission at Dartmouth saying that on Monday they will officially send me the acceptance packet.

I was put on the waitlist like many of you. I don't know what you all did, but I email a lot of the teachers in the department I wanted to get into and asked for their help. I also emailed admission twice telling them how I would add to academic and social life of Dartmouth.

Now I have to try and get the 10K back I already payed to Penn for this year.

Keep trying guys! Nothing is impossible.

Congratulations....

Who did you get the e-mail from?
