How often are students arrested in Hanover for underage drinking?

As compared to what? There’s a HUGE amount of underage drinking that gets very little attention. Who gets arrested? Those who, among the enormous sea of underage drinkers, are stupid enough to warrant campus police attention. But then, these folks are probably arrested, ticketed for disorderly conduct or property damage or assaut, etc. – not solely being a minor in possession.

In my 4 yrs at another Ivy (not as much of a party school as Dartmouth), I never even heard of a single arrest for a minor drinking.

Remember, there is a fine line with campus policing. They have to make it OK for people to take their drunk friends to the med ctr if needed. Arresting random folks with drinks in their hand would be counterproductive.

Per a recent policy change, first-time offenders for underage drinking are not actually arrested. They are instead required to go through the Town of Hanover’s “Diversion” program, which is an alcohol education program.

The decline in arrests is evident in the stats from the article AboutTheSame posted above.
