I applied for international relations and romance languages
What is this Dartmouth Club luncheon event? Do nobodies like me not get invited?
@HolyCheeseballs Local alumni clubs sometimes have luncheons where they might or might not invite students applying to Dartmouth to attend. I wouldn’t worry too much if you weren’t invited to any of them because depending on your location there might not have been any invites sent out to applicants.
I applied under computer science and economics
Dying here… Applied for Biomedical engineering. I saw that some other universities had started giving out results… It’s so frustrating that I have to wait for another 5 days…
Replying to the earlier question about Dartmouth Club Luncheon. Receiving an invitation to such an event is totally dependent on your location. Here’s what happened in Chicago: My child received an invitation to the Chicago Club Luncheon. The invitation email came from the Chicago District Enrollment Director; in Chicago, this is the person who helps arrange alumni interviews. The invitation asked for rsvps by 12/13, with the event being a luncheon held on 12/14. The invitation included the disclaimer that attendenamce at the luncheon had no bearing on Admission.
Personally, I thought the timing was awful, given that everyone expects the decisions to come down on 12/14. Like, woohoo, let’s take the time off of school and work to attend a luncheon at a fancy place that will make you REALLY want to go to Dartmouth, then come home and potentially find out you didn’t get in. Who would decide that’s a nice idea? Our college counselor thought it was the Chicago Alumni Club being insensitive to applicants’ stresses and to the dates involved. The club might not have had any idea what date notification is going out. One would think they’d know, or look into it, but that didn’t happen.
Anyway, another day later, we received another email from the district director rescinding the invitation (to all prospective students) saying that in years past, admitted students had been able to attend the luncheon. He said that “since Admissions pushed the notification date back to 12/14…” they would no longer host ED applicants in order to “avoid putting undue stress on applicants and their families.”
Apparently, in years past, the luncheon occurred AFTER notification date. Therefore, only admitted students bothered to rsvp and attend the luncheon. Whether the notification date got pushed back, or the luncheon date moved up, it was terrible timing THIS year. I think, shame on the alumni club for not being aware of the applicable dates AND for how stressful this time is for 12th graders. They really stepped in it.
I applied under Computer Science and Biology
So the date is 12/14? Also, shouldn’t they have emailed us by now?
My counselor says that you can call the admissions office and they’re usually very friendly and you can ask when results will be released and they’ll generally tell you.
I applied under Philosophy/Religion. Also, could someone be a yung god and call them to ask when decisions are released like @vanillagurlll suggested? (please let us know if you do)
I applied under biomedical engineering / mathematics. I think the admissions office is closed today since it’s a Sunday. Considering some of the posts here, I think we can assume that we’ll hear back on 12/14. We’ll also probably get an email tomorrow with the exact date and time. Anyone else extremely nervous?
@aristicslobe so gd nervous jesus. literally it’s all a waiting game at this point. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE and try to stay calm this week and distract yourself with other things.
I applied for Chemistry
My son applied for IR/PP. While you are biting your nails, check out Dartmouth’s new undergraduate admissions magazine. Well done! https://issuu.com/dartmouthadmissions/docs/3d_2017_november_issuu?e=31770163/55585409.
I hate the waiting so much why can’t they just tell us already
I applied biophysical chemistry
Same, can’t bear the wait. Obsessively checking college confidential isn’t helping either
I applied for women’s studies! Hopefully they will notify us tomorrow with the decision date.
For EST now would be like morning 12/11… Awaiting! (:-|)
Dear Dartmouth Admissions:
Please get yourself a Starbucks and before you go back to work please shoot us all a quick e-mail with the decision date. Much appreciated. Respectfully. Nervous wreck!
Hey guys, I hope you’re all doing fine! I just created an account to stop by and urge you to focus on other things in your life, like school or whatever. There’s no point worrying about it because we’ve already done all we can, and we just have to wait now.
Also, aren’t they supposed to send us an email?
