Dartmouth College went up 12 percent to 1,321

woulda been helpful if you mentioned that the applications went up 12 percent

Sorry. Glad you figured it out.

Oh really? I thought you meant Dartmouth's altitude rose by a bit.

Now I feel sad that it hasn't moved... :(

what does that mean for admissions? would they maintain the 30% acceptance rate? or would it be more competitive this year?

=(

i thought i was supposed to be the only ed applicant! ;-)

"what does that mean for admissions? would they maintain the 30% acceptance rate? or would it be more competitive this year?"

They could stay at 30% without a big problem. They don't get that many ED apps compared to the other Ivies.

Its hard to say because they shoot fro a class of about 1075-1080 students. they also realize that the bulk of the applicants apply during RD. There are also a lot of variables to consider as many "hooked" applicants (recruited athletes, legacies, developmental admits, what the school considers academic superstars) make up a good portion of the ed admits. A lot also depends on the institutional need and what type of class the school is trying to build.

Class of 08 1277 applied 384 admitted
Class of 07 1216 applied 397 admitted
Class of 06 1114 applied 384 admitted

that's funny that they admitted 384 students in two different years. is this just a coincidence or is 384 some quota?

Coincidence, or they just missed it entirely for class of '07.

It's just coincidence, although I'm sure they have a ballpark range they want to land in.
