i see one response on the dartmouth thread and two (besides arcadia's) on the duke thread. I say go to the school that wants you the most. :D

Lol that's because the debate started here...Its WHAT people are saying not where they are saying it!

Actually, I think it depends on what kind of athletics your considering. If you want to play, DIII is probably the only bet you'd have unless you're some super athlete signing a letter of intent or equiv. Son is considering one DI school, but he wouldn't play there and he can at Midd. I have heard they have great school spirit in that regard, and while I am not comparing records or whatever, probably have better teams than Dartmouth in terms of competitiveness.

noggin291 - For me, the idea of a Dartmouth only group of students led by Dartmouth profs for study abroad is a complete turn-off. I'm studying abroad right now and would probably go insane with everything done in a little bubble of American students and profs. I can just picture the big group of Americans going on excursions and it's not a great picture.
In China, I had a Chinese roommate who was incredible and helped me so much to immerse myself in the culture and get a grip on more slangy/vernacular Chinese. In France, I've taken courses at French universities, live with a French family, and gone out with people I've met. They don't hold your hand and I like it like that.

Actually you take classes at the local university with students from that country and live in a native home. The professor and other Dartmouth students reinforces all of this. I had a Spanish brother and sister, took courses at the universidad de barcelona, and went out with spanish kids all the time. The Dartmouth prof and excursions are amazing, trust me.
