Dartmouth ED Class of 2020

@maaz97 Non-restrictive early-action, oops. 20% get in from there, which is half of the class. 977 for admitted which is 49.7% of the class of 2018!

Can someone clarify the financial aid process for ED? The CSS profile is the only thing we need to submit, right?

Hey guys, where on Dartmouth’s essay portion of the website does it say anything about the famed “peer recommendation?” I thought that was supposed to replace the additional essay?

@max5359 That’s not true. The peer recommendation and the supplement essay have nothing to do with each other. The essay is mandatory and the peer recommendation is optional.

@maaz97 Not sure about financial aid ED. I havent even heard of a ‘peer recommendation’ for my application yet. Welp.

@MileSwimmerDude Here’s a link that mentions the peer recommendation: https://admissions.dartmouth.edu/apply/choose-your-path/early-decision/recommendations
Also, here’s a link that explains how to add a peer on the Common App:

How are the applications going for you guys?

Anyone done with the Dartmouth Supplement? Haven’t even started mine

@maaz97 I finished mine, and it is pretty short. But I think it is a good piece nonetheless

But I hope that it is good nonetheless, haha.

@MileSwimmerDude I believe all the supplement essays are supposed to be short (under one page). I already finished my Common Essay. Wanna exchange essays for feedback?

Anyone know when admission results come out? Also, when are likely letters sent out during ED round?

@maaz97 no likely letters in ED round except MAYBE rec. athletes that know they’re in. Results usually come out in december 15-25 around there

OMG future baby '20s already! I’m a '19 here at Dartmouth and if any of you guys have questions about Dartmouth feel free to ask me.

@drrea2030 I hope you’re having a great time at Dartmouth! What are your favorite/least favorite parts about it? And is the work load too much to balance a life outside of school with? Thanks!

@drrea2030, I know you’re still a freshman so you might not be able to answer this question, but what do students do during the summer? Does everyone leave for internships?

Hi! Sorry to crash in the middle of the questions, but I’m a potential '20 and I got very excited about this thread! Not 100% sure I’m EDing yet (it’s between here and Brown, which is a shock for me because I thought I would HATE it and then I visited last weekend and loved it) I was just wondering what do you do outside of the greek life scene?

@jchanover7 So I really love my classes, the professors are amazing. They’re very willing help you as long as you’re willing to work. As far as negatives, I guess it mostly has to do with making real friendships. It’s not a big deal though. Your friends freshman year don’t usually remain your friends til graduation. And you’d find that at any college.
And as far as the workload, I find that as long as you’re taking classes that interest you, and not ones that you’re only taking because you feel like you have to, the workload isn’t that bad. It’s also a lot about time management. And I’m involved in a couple of extracurriculars and they’re a great way to de-stress from classes. It’s definitely possible to balance the two.

@gearsstudio So from the people I’ve talked to, most people use their freshman summer to relax or do a study abroad, after that you have sophomore summer, and then junior year I would definitely say people get internships. Also, some people stay on campus for research. Are you asking because you’d like to remain on campus all year? Or are you just wondering what summer term is like?

@drrea2030 I was just wondering what my options are besides going home
