Anyone know how many applications Amherst received this year for ED? I saw an article that Dartmouth’s applications were at a record high. My son was choosing between the two and went with his gut (among other reasons) and chose Amherst. I have tried to find info on line but I haven’t seen anything. I know it doesn’t really matter because ultimately what will be will be. But I am curious. We are anxiously awaiting Dec 15th :)

169 accepted of 476

Those were the numbers from last year. I was trying to find out how may applications they received this year. But thank you anyway.

2 more weeks until we hear!

Amherst starts reading applications tomorrow, so they may post how many applications they received sometime this week as well. Here’s hoping for a quick two weeks!

Wow. The AdCom start reading them this late? Two weeks seem like an awfully short time to pick who to reject and who to wait-list x.x

Any recruited athletes here? Got my fingers crossed till decision day…

What time on the 15th should we expect a reply?

I don’t know the answer. But I am going to say not early enough When I went through this with my older son (different school) it was around 4:30 or 5PM

I think I’ve read on old threads that Amherst sends out an email sometime before December 15 saying what time decisions will be released. I’m not sure how accurate that is though. I think many colleges wait until late afternoon so that we don’t have to find out during school.

Oh yikes, afternoon US time means I’ll have to stay up past midnight if I want to see the decision immediately ;D Oh well.
I’m so nervous because my SATs aren’t really that great and ED sometimes feel like it’s full of talented geniuses.

Hi all I’m an ED applicant. Has anyone checked the “my document” page? On mine the SAT rows still don’t show “received”, though I have sent my scores on around 31st of October. Should I wait or contact the office?

Contact the office just in case, spacehilbert. You don’t want to get screwed from something stupid like that. I had to have my school send my scores through email.

Yeah Squashie, I’m a swimmer. I’m guessing you’re a squash player.

Haha Waterboy, I would’ve guessed you were a swimmer too!

Squashie and Waterboy, I’m an athlete too. I know we have a little more of an idea but it’s still so stressful.

@Squashie How does an international get recruited?

@Asad876 you contact coaches of your sport and tell them who you are and stuff. Hopefully stuff falls into place then. You play sport too?

@gorun1 track & field!

@Squashie Nope, I don’t play sports much these days. Was just curious because I haven’t heard of any Pakistani being recruited for sports.

@Asad876 I know of another guy too, but he got recruited at Trinity, not Amherst

Seems like all of the other LACs have now said that notification will be on 12/12. Would Amherst still wait until the 15th?
