Dartmouth ED Class of 2020

@JARO10 I did! I want to go into math and I submitted both Math 1 and Math 2

What’s the highest level of math you all have taken or are taking?

Calc BC

@CO2020Vision I got 800 on math 2 as well. However, I didn’t do too hot on physics, so I took math 1 and submitted that.

@JARO10 I also want to go into math! I only submitted Math II - I got an 800 and didn’t think there was much point in also taking Math I.

@CO2020Vision I’m taking Calc III at our local university this semester and linear algebra next semester.

Hi guys! I’m a bit late to this discussion, I just found this thread whilst picturing how my rejection letter will look.

I’m an international applicant (UK) from a social mobility programme for disadvantaged students. Not sure of my chances: I have pretty average ACT and SATII scores (within Dartmouth’s range, but not outstanding), A perfect academic record (only As), graduating 1st in my class (it’s called valedictorian, right?), hold the position of Head Boy at my school and have really quirky ECs (I founded my country’s first student-led product design company) and I help out a lot in my community. I had a great interview with an alumnus that lasted 2 hours (and only ended because of the Starbucks we were in was closing). On a whole I feel quite positive, but one can never determine one’s chances at such a selective institution.

All you guys sound awesome; the competition is fierce. Dartmouth really does have the luxury of choosing from a pool full of wonderful human beings.

Good luck guys - I’m assuming decisions won’t be long. I’m trying to keep myself busy by revising content for my uni interviews in the UK but I can’t focus with the weight of my Dartmouth decision on my mind!

Hey guys, I’m applying ED like u guys, does anyone know what day Dartmouth is going to announce ED Acceptance? I did some research and the past two years it was announced on the 12th and 11th of December

@Emmett789 It will probably be a bit later this year. I would guess either the 14th or the 15th.

And Strust98, you sound incredibly qualified so I wouldn’t stress too much, but I definitely understand what you’re feeling

Thanks to those who answered regarding my question - I hope it won’t affect me too adversely, but I’ll accept the decision whatever it is.

@strust98, welcome to the Boards! It’s great to see more international applicants and hear their stories. I hope to meet you next fall.

As for the rest of y’all, I have to admit that Math is my weakest subject. Highest level studied was PAP (Honours) Pre-Calculus, which I got an A+ in. I was actually signed up for AP Calc BC this year and was enrolled (got a 99 on the first quiz) but switched to take Russian instead. My math subscores for my SAT and ACT were the lowest of the three and four categories respectively (700, 31) despite my high composite scores of 2200 and 34.

I took the US His, Lit, and Spanish exams to fulfill the SAT II requirements.

Honestly I think everyone here (myself included) is stressing out more than necessary.
We’ll find out soon and hopefully meet each other in person next year!

What kind of scores does Dartmouth look for on SAT 2s? I know the pool of students who take Subject Tests is much more competitive than that of just the regular SATs, so the percentiles are a little different…

I think Dartmouth does a five-part SAT score where they look at your SAT 1 subsections in addition to your two highest SAT 2’s. Assuming that the majority of unhooked admits to Dartmouth have a 2100+ on their SAT1, this would mean that you’d ideally want a 700+ on your subject tests.

I may be wrong on everything I just said though hahaha so don’t take my word

No, I think you’re right. My Subject Test scores were 800, 740, and 710, and I was told by my Counselor to disregard percentiles (even though mine were great), as the pool is hyper-competitive (and language test percentiles are skewed by the native speakers that take them) and most elite colleges are looking only for competence/academic fit.

I hope that the SAT 1 or ACT is weighted more than subject tests.

Don’t worry about it - I’m sure you did well

I had a 740 and 750, which were both in 70~ percentile, but now I’m feeling a little bit more confident about them. Thanks, guys!

I’m really not stressed about test scores. Grades are another story, though…

sameee @norcaltraveler of course I fall in love with one of the only schools that require subject tests for the ACT :,( I don’t know how accurate this is but my friend said subject tests are only weighted like 4% of the entire admissions decision. I think its more beneficial if you didn’t do as well in your school’s math classes/sat 1 but I haven’t really looked into it much

One of my SATIIs is incredibly –dare I say it, painfully– average (58th percentile), but I decided to take it on the way to the test centre, so I guess I had it coming. The other is mid 70th, so I guess that’s acceptable. I’ve heard they account for roughly 5% of the admissions decision though, if that, so I hope they don’t focus too much on them.
