Dartmouth ED Class of 2020

Anyone else get an email from the College Board today saying the score reports for the October test are delayed? I hope Dartmouth won’t mind too much if the scores arrive past November 1 due to this issue.

1000 isn’t excessive - one of my supplements (for Amherst) is about 19 pages in length, not including sources. As long as your writing is meaningful, you’ll be fine. I found out yesterday I had a typo in my Dartmouth Supplement (just inserted a random “had” in the middle of one sentence), but I’m not too worried. There’s more to life. The beautiful thing about Liberal Arts Colleges is the freedom you have to think - to break from formula, to be you. If you is 1000 words, go for it.

^^ Absolutely! They have plenty of time to read 19 pages and are happy to do it! Liberal Arts colleges encourage you to do whatever you think it’ll take to get in including writing double (1000 words) what anyone else is writing. They would love to have 20,000 applicants each submit one extra page of writing because, of course, the 12 minutes they have to review each application means nothing.

Oh, get over yourself. You don’t know anything more about the process than any of us.

The 19 page paper is long - I admit it, but the school asked for a comprehensive work tied to the curriculum, so they could evaluate our class rigor, I presume. They may not read all of it, but even a taste will tell them what they need to know.

For the record, my Dartmouth supplement is 530 words or so because they were explicit in their preferences. Amherst wasn’t.

My supplement for Dartmouth is about 350 words but I felt that I included everything I wanted to say. The instructions said a paragraph to a page so in terms of words I’m guessing they’re looking for something in the 200-500 range.

On the Common App, the Dartmouth Supplement’s word limit is 1000 words. If you try to enter more than 1000 words it informs you that you’ve crossed the word limit. So as long as your essay is under than 1000 words, you should be fine.

Does anyone know if I submit my ED form the day after? I can’t get my counselor to sign it until Nov 2nd…

FINALLY finished my Dartmouth Supplement #:-S

Congratulations, everyone! :slight_smile:

I hope to see y’all next year.

On my Dartmouth’s application management system, I don’t see anything regarding my financial aid application. Is this normal?

@gearsstudio http://admissions.dartmouth.edu/check-your-application
On this page it says that the financial aid application should be available on the application management system. I’m not applying for financial aid personally so I’m not really familiar with the process but you should probably send them an email to confirm that they have it.

Hey guys! I just found this thread. Who’s ready for alumni interviews?? I just scheduled mine for Tuesday :-SS

I just had my interview. It think it went pretty well. Good luck with yours, @clairecm98!

I haven’t yet been contacted, but I live in West Texas, so I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad sign.

I applied a week before the deadline and had my interview 2 days later. They are very on top of their game with this stuff. Good luck to all!

Ah well, I read the information on their website regarding interview policy, so I should be fine. Just means that the local alumnus hasn’t yet reached out. That’s alright. I’m sure he/she will do so (if there is one here) when they get the chance. Good luck to all.

Has any international applicant been contacted for an interview?

@nerdking yup:) from Singapore

@futureco2020 @norcaltraveler Hi! Great to know that y’all have done the interview! I was contacted by an alumnus interviewer today and was wondering how would it go? Also, any advice? Thanks!:slight_smile:

@Luciez For my interview we met in a cafe and talked for a bit over half an hour. Most of the questions were pretty standard, such as why you want to go to Dartmouth, what activities you do, what you want to study, strengths and weaknesses, etc. Probably my best advice would be to think of it as more of a conversation than an interview, that helped me feel more relaxed. Also have about 4-5 questions in mind because it shows that you are interested. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
