aaagh im so nervous i just want to know my decision but we still have an entire month :-SS
entire month at the very latest*
I think decisions have come out as early as Dec 8th in past years, and maybe the supposedly smaller applicant pool (relative to last year) will mean an earlier decision date
Yes, Dartmouth is need-blind for US residents, @clairecm98.
@JARO10 do we just go on our dartmouth account to find out our admission decisions?
@clairecm98 Yes.
Was just contacted by my interviewer! So excited
Good luck @SirPepsi! Let us know how it goes.
I will - he and I have scheduled for this coming Saturday, so I’ll be sure to update y’all soon after that
My interview is this Saturday too! My interviewer graduated from both Dartmouth College and Tuck, so he obviously knows the school really well. Will report back here how it goes.
Hello! Son is ED…solid applicant, I think. Fine test scores (34 ACTs, 800-800-760 SAT subject tests, 5-5-4 AP so far…), top 5% of class, strong GPA (3.8-3.9), good extracurricular stuff…hoping legacy helps. It’s just such a hard school to get into…Still waiting to be contacted for interview. Boston area, so we’re hopeful it will happen. We all love Dartmouth.
I wish you the best of luck, Mirmark - I hope to meet your son come next year
Something I was thinking about: Is it of any use to interview in late November? There’s a pretty good chance they’ll already determine our fate by then since results come out in about 25 days from now. I’m assuming interviews only matter if the college receives the interviewer’s report before they start judging our application.
They haven’t even gone to Committee yet, so yes, interviews are still looked at. Unless truly negative, however, interview reports have little weight in admissions.
Well, there is a box they can check for “Outstanding Candidate” that I’ve heard has substantial bearing on the process.
Yes, that’s true there is that box but most alumni interviewers will tell you that checking it has little correlation with who gets in or not. Candidates who didn’t get an interview would be at a serious disadvantage if that box was important and that goes against everything just about all top schools say. MIT, on the other hand, places a lot of value on the interview so there I would advise you to strive for top marks.
From what I’ve gathered (and I might be wrong), not having an interview doesn’t disadvantage you, but having an interview can help or harm. Accepting the interview is risky, in a sense.
Not accepting the interview is risky. But anyway, you seem to be adamant in your belief of the importance of the interview so I hope it goes/went well for you.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to come off as adamant. I was just paraphrasing from what I’ve heard from my guidance counselor and Dartmouth’s website. Thanks for the kind wishes, by the way
how important are sat subject tests? mine aren’t that great (770-730) bc i took them last may in the midst of all my finals. also just for clarification, dartmouth superscores the sat but not the act, right?
@clairecm98 That’s correct. I’d say your scores aren’t too bad; anything around a 750 should do.
