Dartmouth Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@20transfer17 Yeah, that is exactly what I said on a previous thread, good call. I wonder if CC is losing steam or if transfers are down this year? If you look at the Dartmouth numbers, the number of transfer applicants has gone down significantly every year. I don’t know if that is good news or bad news for those transferring.

Anyone have an idea of when we should be hearing back?

@Transfer1011 Probably the 2nd week of May like last year.

@Southerngent I think it’s gone down by like 20 a year right? Still around 680 applicants so I don’t think it helps too much haha. Their yield is a lot more important.

@20transfer17 they accepted 100 less this freshman class. Maybe the yield will be in our favor this year. Who knows though, this whole admissions thing is unpredictable. I’ve been accepted to all my other schools so far but I think the Ivies are going to change that pretty quickly.

@Southerngent Congrats on your other acceptances! I think you have a pretty good chance though, I remember reading your stats along with your great story. I know Dartmouth loves veterans, you’re just as competitive if not more than most.

Dartmouth is without a doubt my top choice, here’s to hoping we all hear good news come May.

@20transfer17 thank you, I appreciate your kindness. We will see, it is by far my number 1 school without a doubt. I visited the campus about 6 weeks ago and it only increased my desire to attend the college on the hill. Good luck to you!!!

is there any definitive answer on when we will get decision back?

@student4144 Not yet, hopefully soon.

@Southerngent How would the number of freshman accepted related to the number of transfers they will admit this year? Since we are a part of next year’s sophomore class, aren’t our acceptances solely dependent on how many rising sophomores decide to leave?

@chanceme2014 this article fully explains how it works http://thedartmouth.com/2014/05/07/spots-for-transfer-students-decrease-with-higher-yield/

They offered 100 less spots this year to help curb the over admittance last year and if less accept then they will let in more transfers because they will have more spots.

@Southerngent ah, so it’s dependent upon the size of Dartmouth’s population as a whole…

Well, let’s hope for a lower yield rate!

@chanceme2014 yes, haha. It is a total paradox, I respect Dartmouth and the student population that makes it great but I’m rooting for students to choose another school.

I just got access to financial Aid, and it updated. Is that a good sign? Last year, when they updated it for transfers they got in.

@neurotictransfer Oh did they send you an email with a login or something? I have no idea, but I just looked through last years thread and @bumblebees had theirs updated and was admitted, definitely looks like a good sign.

@neurotictransfer I apologize if this seems like a silly question, what do you mean that you now have access to financial aid? Are you referring to your Darrmouth Application Portal?

I am most likely jumping to conclusions. but, Yes its just a new tab thats next to the admissions on my application checklist page. I would like to hope its a good sign. its just a theory based off @bumblebees experience.

@neurotictransfer I submitted my app way back in December and I can’t remember when that tab populated on my portal but I want to say at least a month ago it was available. If that is the key then I’m going to be wearing Dartmouth Green for a long time.

@Southerngent Can you tell us about how the financial aid tab looks like if it’s updated?
I am assuming you see how much you will be receiving…?

the new tab is right next to your admissions checklist, its just a financial aid checklist. you cannot see how much or anything. like i said, it may mean nothing.
