**Dartmouth International Applicant's Thread 2017**

@MRU93Raith I’m trying not to pick a favourite so I won’t get massively emotionall when decisions come out… that being said, green is good :’)

@Lemming
Good approach! Apart from a few of my safeties, I would be really happy to go to any of the unis I chose, so as long as I get into one of my “matches” or “reaches” I will be a very happy person :D

Talking about acceptances etc… Any chance we can all agree that whatever the outcome we post our stats on here? I feel it could really help a lot of future international students as it is more their context of schooling. Just an idea… anyone happy to agree that we do that?

I think it’s better to make indicate that we’re international students in the 2017 RD Results thread. I sure could have used one, good idea.

@Boss
Don’t you find it tedious to look through all the US applicants ones as well? Cause looking through the RD results thread for 2016, there must have only been 2 people in the whole thread not from Asia or US posting… imagine doing it here (or starting a decisions thread for only internationals to submit their stats?) I have a feeling that the context would show as some of the internationals being “below average” according to the chance threads and the RD threads…

Was just an idea though :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll probably post mine here and there…

@Raith - Well I had to manage like two jobs, also play sports constantly, to make sure I didnt lose my form . It was madness i swear. A day before my boards, i came back home at like 2 in the night. Crazy man.

Rishav17 - yeah man. I went to do a stint at Simla Young. :D

Also, why not post our stats right now ?
Along with a list of schools we’re doing, apart from Big Green ofcos.

I suppose we can - though I was thinking with the accepted/rejected/waitlisted together with it…

For;
Blue
Raith

Plus, some of us might have additional stats to include by the time the acceptances come out…

Like I know the standings for A Levels per country is released somewhere around April (maybe later actually - no one can guess that I am hoping I am on that list xP )

Raith - Yes that’s true. Its hard being an international! :open_mouth:
I was just thinking of posting stats so that other applicants browsing it could know how the applicant pool is this year :)

Also, anyone know how the political scene is at D ?

@Blue
Well lets wait and see what others think :slight_smile: But that actually is pretty good (though would have been more useful before the applications don’t you think? :stuck_out_tongue: ) <— DOCTOR YOUR STATS TO STOP PEOPLE FROM APPLYING!! :smiley: obviously wouldn’t be the case

Political as in people? or actual politics (major)?.. I can ask a friend of mine, he is a freshman there at the moment

Raith - Sure man. Ahahah, I like your idea :wink: Too late for that I guess :stuck_out_tongue: :D

Political as in, how’s the student council, unions and stuff? Like Yale is pretty famous for activisms. One of my dreams/stupidly impossible wishes is to campaign for a post on the Student Council :smiley: :p

@Blue
If you’d like me to try find out from my friend, just PM me the exact phrasing of the questions you want to ask him and I’ll get back to you :slight_smile: sound like a plan? :)

@Raith - Yeah sounds good enough I guess :smiley:
Also, whats everybody doing these days?
My application page still shows " WE ARE CURRENTLY PROCESSING YOUR APPLICATION " -_-
How long will this go on? Oh the world is so cruel :(

@Blue
Mine said that they have processed my material, and that if anything else was not there they would send me an email… I have to wait till the decisions are sent out :confused:
I still think wait till mid February and see… otherwise if it still concerns you send them an email?

I have one more week in Mauritius till I go to SA for some work experience. I am finishing my rescue diver course this week. The work experience is helping with one of my dad’s companies- an airplane company “AirTec”(some time along the business side, but I’ll be shadowing and helping the maintenance crews and engineers - giving me some mehanical and hopefully some aeronautical experience of sorts). I will also be doing my pilot’s license :smiley:
Quite busy actually :stuck_out_tongue: hopefully I’ll have time for gym and swimming and partying… though where I will be I don’t know how I will party… few people speak english -_-

What are you getting up to?

Yeah well id probably bombard them with questions on Valentine’s haha.

Wow. Pretty busy and tight schedule you got there man! I’m actually thinking of going for another soccer camp since a club invited me, but I need to prepare for college entrances here in India too, since i didnt really study much this year, not for indian competitive exams atleast. So im kind of caught at a point where I can only choose one of the roads.
Also, I CANT WAIT FOR MARRCCCHHHHHHHHH! :stuck_out_tongue:
D does results on 28 March like the others? Or some other date ?

Haha, so sweet of you to take up their email box on Valentine’s… they will feel so loved!!!

Yes kinda busy, and hopefully another work experience opportunity (I was telling Sunny about it yesterday)
Nice, when would you do the camp?
Good luck for the Indian college entrances, how different is it from the US in the way it works?

I also can’t wait for March! Though it really is more like April :P

Well that’s the idea haha. Maybe they’ll be overwhelmed seeing that im in love with them so madly <3 xD

It begins in another 3 weeks. Last week of Feb. Seems like youve got a lot of updates to give to the college adcoms :D

Well, only marks and ranks matter here. No one cares if you played football for a club, or won a medal and all that. Its just simple - Highest score wins. And some people seem to study for hours on a stretch (something I cant seem to do). Thats why i like the US process, it’s holistic.

Well thats true, but March sounds closer than April haha :p

@guyinblue
Mine says the same like Raith (we have received all materials…). Maybe wait one or two more weeks and then call or write them an e-mail :)

Just send them a valentines card along with your e-mail and maybe you stand out :smiley:

@Raith
you will do your pilot’s license? Wow, that is great. :slight_smile:
I am not even allowed to drive a car :smiley: (I am currently doing my driver’s license but have to wait til I turn 18 to drive alone) -.-

@Blue
I agree with sunny… send them a Velentines Card!

Awesome! I bet you are pretty excited about going to the soccer camp :slight_smile: It would be awesome if you made the Varsity Soccer team at which ever uni you go to :)

Oh ok, slightly like a bit of the UK system (like OxBridge just says you need 2-3A*s to even be considered!). Yea I can’t work for long periods either… I’ve actually told my family that unless there is an extremely important assignment for the next day and nothing else for the rest of that week, I will NOT pull all nighters - or even late nights :stuck_out_tongue: I already struggle with sleeping, not a good idea to deprive me further.

Stop being delusional! Think of it as April - that way you might get your results sooner than you feel you should ;)

@Sunny
Well I am 19 :stuck_out_tongue: and for a pilot’s license you only have to be 17 (everywhere in the world)… driving here is also only 18. Ironically I don’t have my driver’s yet either… hoping I can do it while I do my pilot’s license too :stuck_out_tongue:
My dad has bought a 2nd hand cheap car for my sister and me… neither of us have a license yet haha! (was more cause my cousin was visiting, so he took the opportunity)

@Raith - yeah. I hope its an ivy :stuck_out_tongue:
Yeah. There are different entrances for diff. majors here. Ex. Law has diff. exams, Engg. has another, so does Medical/Vet.
Yes me too. :stuck_out_tongue: if i pull an all nighter, chances are id end up watching reruns of ‘how i met your mother’ than studying. :p

Sunny - thanks. Haha, im thinking of sending a really cheesy card haha. :p

@Blue
Remember that not all Ivy’s are really top top… after all, MIT, CalTech, Stanford, UChicago (and I’ll include Duke) are all really amazing! But I suppose for sport Ivy’s are great… any chance of you making the Indian International Squad someday? :wink:
Oh ok, yea - same with the UK (top unis anyway), they require extra tests, and then extra ones on top of those depending on what you want to study.
Well I want watch something instead… I just wont be able to pay attention in lectures the next day (unless I am really lucky and find the following day’s lectures extremely interesting :smiley: )
