**Dartmouth International Applicant's Thread 2017**

@Sunny well I love the university of Pennsylvania ( always and forever <3 ) but Dartmouth was kinda easier for its need-blind policy :stuck_out_tongue: Since I need financial aid ( and lot of it -_- ) most school are actually reaches for me , so I’m gonna apply to 50+ universities :p

@Penny
50+?!? Wow, and I thought my 11 were a lot :stuck_out_tongue: Funny thing is every Ivy is essentially a reach for everyone, even a 2400/4.0/800!
Good luck though - I’m also applying to UPenn :slight_smile: for their VIPER program (doubt I’ll get in for it though) haha

@Penny
You applied to 50 universities? Wow
I know, need a lot of financial aid, too :/

@Sunny and @Raith yes :smiley: ! I mean I would be really unlucky if I were rejected by all of them :stuck_out_tongue: ( which is possible ) I’m considering mcgill and uni of toronto as well , they seem pretty good :smiley: And I really liked the uni of melbourne when I lived over there but they have just 10 scholarships .-.

@Penny
I think it is relatively safe to say that you will get accepted to at least one of the universities :stuck_out_tongue: Apparently the U of Melbourne is really good - my cousin is going there for her degree in Veterinary Science.

@Raith Hope so :slight_smile: And wow I wish I could D:

@guyinblue
Thanks :slight_smile: I really hope I end up somewhere. If not I don’t know what to do one year. Probably studying for the SAT :D

@Sunny
If you get a year off… do something more fun (obviously still work on your SATs… but do something fun that will make the unis look at you! :)

@Raith
Yea, maybe I will do an internship or something like that but I want to go to college :smiley:
Now I regret it that I didn’t apply to more colleges.

@Sunny
Some universities still take applications… they are on a “rolling application” system

@Raith
I considered them, but didn’t find one that offers me the financial aid I need. :/

@Sunny
oh yea :confused: And definitely no universities in Germany, Switzerland, etc that would be able to offer the aid and still be good? (haven’t done much research - stopped when I realised very few of them did bachelors in English)

@Raith - My boards were just fine. Because I had to juggle a lot of stuff, not just studies :expressionless:
Anyways, the camp was great. I had some real fun playing :smiley:
You and Sunny seemed to hit it off real well ahahaha :p

@Sunny - Ahh dont worry, just hope for the best! :slight_smile:
And universities with rolling admissions seem to have really BAD FINANCIAL AID. Real bad.

Also, 50 unis? :open_mouth: ****GG! ARE YOU SERIOUS? HOW MANY ESSAYS DID YOU HAVE TO WRITE? :O

Also, Raith, I missed you too man ;)

@Raith
Wouldn’t need the aid in Germany because public universities aren’t allowed to require money anymore (only $150 per semester). And private universities don’t have a good reputation, you go there when your grades are bad because they take everyone :smiley:
But we don’t have campus housing, traditions or sportteams at universities; you just go there because you have to. No school spirit or anything like that, pretty boring! :D

Didn’t think about applying to Switzerland, maybe I should look if they have good universities. :)

@Blue
Good to hear… though I suppose amazing would be better than fine… but yea, for my IGCSEs I had the first day of the Mauritian Swimming nationals about an hour after my last exam (ie, had to rush to the pool, do a length or so of warm up :S and also keep competition fit during my exam period - like a month or two)… what else were you juggling if I may ask?

Haha, what can I say, I get along well with Germans? :stuck_out_tongue: No, honestly I do, one ex is German and my friend who wrote my eval is also German haha! ;)

Aww! :stuck_out_tongue: haha

@Sunny
Oh that is a shame about the German universities (apart from not having to pay a lot).

I believe the Swiss unis are really good, and I’m sure a couple of them are in German as I’m sure you know Switzerland is French, German and Italian

@guyinblue
Thanks, I still have hope. I think I won’t be able to open the admission decision in March/April (that seems so far away) :D

Sure…
The deadline for interview reports is 6th Feb so it’s unlikely you’ll be called for interview now.

I had mine with two people so it may differ from a standard interview. I was asked about my ‘unique selling point’ and I spoke a lot about my extra curricular. It was more formal than some other interviews I had but I don’t think that was necessarily a bad thing. Having two interviewers meant that there were two different perspectives on Dartmouth from different class groups. It was really interesting as they gave me really detailed information about Dartmouth, more so than my other interviews, talking about some of their fondest memories etc. It helped that I had similar interests to one of the interviewers, but that was sheer luck… anyhow, they were really lovely and really helped me to imagine myself at Dartmouth :)

@Lemming
Sounds like a very interesting unique interview experience. Sounds like it went well and that the alum will write up a good report for you. Well done :slight_smile:
Blood starting to flow Green then? ;)

@guyinblue - Haha!! True… I’ve noticed that too!! :stuck_out_tongue:
Which club did you go to play for??

@Lemming - Great to hear that you had a good interview!! So you are one step closer to D!! :slight_smile:
And so interviews are off the table then - for those who didn’t get them!!..
