Maybe I should have taken the A Levels. I have to take all the classes, I can’t choose my subjects. -.-

@Sunny
You don’t get to choose any subjects? I would hate that!

@Raith
I actually hate it because you have to take subjects in which you aren’t interested in.
The only subject you are allowed to skip is religion.

Well we don’t get to choose our subjects too!!
We have 10, yes you heard me right, 10 subjects in 9th & 10th.
Then we have to choose a stream for 11th & 12th - Science,Commerce,Arts,etc.
We have 4 subjects compulsory in 11th & 12th and 1 elective!

And school was from 8.00am to 2.30pm!! :)

Though I usually stayed back in school till I could!! :p

@sunny - When does your school start??

****! Everyone on this thread is like ACTIVE:)(cept caribgurl)

@Sunny
Shame So what subjects do you have to take?

@Rishav
I understand the streaming- we did a similar thing for our IGCSEs, and kinda with A Levels… but luckily I didn’t have any classes that clashed on the time table, so I got to do all the subjects I was wanting to do.

@Quiver
Well Canadian just came back, but there are a lot of people who haven’t posted apart from their initial hi quite sad… but it is awesome that everyone that has been active from the start is still active :D

@rishav
I have 13 subjects in grade 12th and only one (religion) is elective.
School starts at 7:45 but Mondays at 8:35 :)

We are back to subjects I see:)
If you have a break at school, IT IS the counselor’s responsibility to fill and send MID-YEAR forms right>?
Oh and @Sunny How do you finish 13 subjects in that time???

@Quiver
To my understanding it is their responsibility, but I suppose it is yours to make sure that they do fill it in and send it.

@Quiver - Depends on how efficient your counselor is!! Mine’s surely not in the least… I have to do everything for her, before she logs into her account and sends it!! :/

@Sunny, what are the 13 subjects??

@Raith and rishav
english, maths, business english, german, french, social studies, office management, national economy, physics, business administration, accountancy, religion and project capability

She is the school’s principal and HATES foreign bound students:(
Even to top universities.She thinks that all the smart folks stay here:::

@Sunny
WOW!!

@Quiver
All I can say is that she should maybe be more mature about her job and fill in what needs to be done and when it needs to be done by If she can’t, try see if you can get some other teacher in a similar sort of position to try fill in the form for her if possible?

@sunny - What’s different in english & business english??
And Office management, national economy, business admin. sound more like chapters!! :p

That’s where the difference lies I guess. US students often show off that they are taking 10 or so APs… but when you have three subjects on calculus itself - It just seems redundant. In India, we have 1 math subject which contains all of this!!

Just saying that sometimes no. of subjects is not proportional to course load! Just hope that adcoms know this well, or they’ll laugh at my 5 subjects!! :(

@Quiver - I get what you mean!! You should’ve tried to get a coordinator or someone to fill it in!! :)

@quiver
somehow it works. I don’t have to write a final exam in all of the subjects :)

@Rishav
I feel your pain there too… Like there are 3 different physics classes for the US (to my understanding) - we do it all in one class, and we do different topics to them in additition to those.
Maths and Further Maths for us are just two difficulties with slightly different topics/applications. Further maths we do a couple theorems for complex numbers and do very different calculus compared to our normal math. Vectors and Matrices are also more predominant in our FM than M… The stats and mechanics go a couple steps ahead; T distributions, Chi squared, appropriateness of certain models, test for fit from scatter plot information, rotational momentum, restitution (I can keep going… but it was rather traumatic a few months ago and it still has an effect on me :’( ) haha

@MRU93Raith and rishav : She is the big boss there who kicks ass:P
nobody else can/will do this for you. oh and classes here are also vast but I do enjoy them
@Sunny: I don’t know how u manage all this work, but it is awesome if you do:)
