**Dartmouth International Applicant's Thread 2017**

@nocknock Yh, that’s the only good thing. But I think colleges can access our grades from the examining body though. At least I opted for the choice where schools can access my grades… But I will be more relaxed going into these exams though.

Don’t recall seeing that option /:. Thought they had to get em through the guidance counselors. Are you like swamped with IAs over midterm? Holidays were never really holidays with the work teachers be giving over it for me :(

Yh!! I am working on my Carib Studies IA now (since the holiday that is) but I’m carrying forward the grades from the other subjects.

How are your IAs going?

Oh. And I sent you a pm @nocknock

lool guessing someone passed up all the chances for turning in tha carib studies IA drafts :p…and i’m IA free actually :D, took a gap year. Its work that’s draining all my energy sighs. Didn’t get the pm tho :s, gota resend.

Lol. No. I didn’t miss all my chances.

And where are you working for your gap year? My parents wouldn’t even give me that option.

lol oh my bad. So what’s your IA on?

I do GSAT classes for primary school kids and outreach projects with G2k. That’s kinda sad though. I think this year has been more helpful to me than both years of 6th form.

@nocknock That’s so cool, I’ve thought about doing a gap year. A year’s too long for me though, at this time… but I want to plan my university schedule so that i have a few months to travel in between terms :P

@kdengg ahh koolz! :slight_smile: i think dartmouth’s new schedule helps with that though. We dont return for classes after thanksgiving until January so that gives you a month to get around. Plus it sounds like you would love the language study abroad thngy dartmouth has :P…so which places you plan on visiting visit?

@caribgurl - Well this is the first time I’ve been mistaken to be a girl, so I am a bit curous as to why you thought of me as one!! :stuck_out_tongue: Haha!!

Anyway, congratulation on your acceptances!! :)

Coming to ManUtd vs Real Madrid, United played BRILLIANTLY!! They should’ve actually won the game!! :slight_smile:
But as nocknock says, RVP just didn’t seem to want to score!! :/

And finally you both (nocknock & caribgurl) have found someone in the same time zone!! Haha!! :D

@nocknock Yeah that month is awesome, probs spend a week or two in NYC or Boston. I’ve never been to the East coast aside from philadelphia, and that was yeeeaars ago. But I’m thinking, load up on dartmouth summer terms so I don’t have to spend winter there heheh.
Study abroad for SURE. Oxford, the economics thing in Italy, or that new film one. Hoping for at least two study abroad terms. I’m so excited to be graduating and having all these options - then again, everything is expensive so my options are technically limited haha.

@kdengg - If I get accepted to Dartmouth, I’ll probably do that too - try load the summer to free up the winter!! :)

And I have a question, who covers the study abroad cost?? Does the financial aid received provide a part of it? or do we have to pay up the whole thing?? O.o

@Rishav
I’m working at one of my dad’s companies called AirTec : http://www.air-tecm.com/downloads/BrochureAirTec2.pdf</a>
They provide aircraft and all sorts of things :P

Stevens - likely
UChicago - about so so
Stanford - don’t really want to go, but doubt I’ll be accepted anyway
CalTech - kinda like the inception Rishav mentioned
MIT - Very unlikely, but hopeful
UPenn (VIPER) - impossibru!!!
UPenn - I think quite likely
Rice - Likely
Duke - Hopeful
Cornell - Don’t really mind, probably unlikely
Princeton - Really really hopeful… but even a hybrid of Goku/Superman/Batman/Godzilla and the Lockness Monster couldn’t even out my chances -_- haha!!
Dartmouth - very hopeful, but I still think unlikely

@Carib
I made the mistake of referring to a girl as a guy :/

Wow!! @ Raith… Do you really work there :D???
What exactly do you do??..VERY curious :)

@Raith, yeah what exactly do you do?? Very curious!!

And if you think you’re quite likely at UPenn, Cornell should be easier to get into for you!!

Frankly Cornell seems to be the best bet for me to get into an Ivy!! :p

And we have 4 colleges in common so we might end up in the same place!! :D

Edit–

Keya seems to have disappeared after that incident!!

[Who Posted? - College Confidential](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/misc.php?do=whoposted&t=1450966)

Interesting fact,

Of Raith’s total of 346 posts, 301 have been on this thread!!
Of Sunny’s total of 143 posts, 134 have been on this thread!!!

haha!! :D

I am placed first (from last!) on that list…

I’ll go up the list now :p

@Hoping for better
Haha :stuck_out_tongue: you gotta be more active!

@Rishav and Quiver
Well yesterday was my first day - I did what they call data capturing, which mainly entails entering data written about flights by the pilots. It is very tedious but important for statistical purposes.
I will however be shadowing the engineers and maintenance crews from next week - but we will see :)

@Rishav
Maybe I’ll get into Cornell, but I think I have a better bet for UPenn - not sure why but I just feel like I am more likely to be accepted there :P

@Raith - That sounds fun - “overshadowing engineers & maintenance crews” but data capturing… nah!! :p

@Rishav
Hopefully it will be fun :slight_smile: But getting my driver’s and pilot’s license will really be the fun while I am here!!
The data capturing was very boring and brainless as far as work goes - I wouldn’t even do it for money if I really had a choice!! I wouldn’t do it at all :S
But for the business where there is potentially a lot of wasted resources in the form of time, maintenance and fuel, it allows them to predict things better and really keep track of everything. So if like 125 L of fuel is missing, they know that either that is due to the lack of accuracy of the instruments or the pilots are stealing fuel or wasting fuel and time.
