**Dartmouth International Applicant's Thread 2017**

@Raith
We need to stay strong, I know it’s hard, but that’s the only way! :confused:
You have my support!!

Hey guys, this is the first thread I posted on so I have returned!
@Raith and French,
I completely know how you guys feel - was just waitlisted at UChicago and looking just on CC it appears UChi is using the WUSTL strategy. Chin up guys there is always something great waiting at the end of the tunnel!

Hopefully 28th will be a day of joyous surprises but if not, I will let loose some of my previous experiences from last year which will hopefully help to make everyone feel better!

U of Chicago wait listed. Details later.
Good luck to my friends

@French, @dbtocollege and @Krishna
I suppose we are kinda in the same boat with UChicago, unless they accept a lot of their waitlisted students?

@dbtocollege
What is the WUSTL strategy?

I really am hoping and praying that Ivy day and April 1st all turn out to be good days for us all… As happy as I am about my safety, I’d really like another acceptance haha! Maybe the “legacy” sort of title for Princeton will help (even though my sister only recently graduated so I doubt I am quite legacy material)… 3 rejections in a row from top unis really isn’t agreeing with me too well :/

Best of luck to you all!

Relax guys. Majority of the decisions come out on 28th/1st Apr.
And just because one college rejected you doesnt mean others will. Different colleges look for different abilities. :)

So keep up your spirits.

Raith - It wont. Patience. Youve done all you could. Now you can only wait. :)

@Blue
You are our support system hey? :stuck_out_tongue: You do the job pretty well :P

I’m just a tad disappointed and worried, but as I have mentioned before, I do have a great offer from my safety, so no major worries. :)

@Raith
I agree with Blue -different schools look for different qualities in students and you may hit the nail for the schools you are waiting to hear back from!

As for the WUSTL strategy, I don’t like to say they necessarily waitlist ‘overqualified’ students although plenty of worthy students are just as for any other top tier school, but just that they waitlist a LOT of people making the reality a waitlist almost equal to a rejection :(

Ok I’m back! Had a few exams in quick succession.

@Raith, Frenchissma, others - As Blue said, a rejection from one or two colleges is not an indicator of the decisions of other colleges. Different colleges look at different aspects. UChicago puts massive weight on the essay in an admission decision and usually look for unusual/creative essays, a slightly bland essay is all that might lead to a rejection at these selective colleges!!
Also MIT has an acceptance rate of 5.6%!! That is mad!! Don’t worry you’ll get into someplace good!! :)

And on other news - My love for Dartmouth has tripled over night - never knew about the DOC trip before!! Now that I’ve read about it —> I AM MORE IN LOVE WITH DARTMOUTH!! :D

@Raith and @French … Don’t worry. Fate is just making it easier for you to choose the right school. And I said before, THINK OF IMPENDING GREATNESS. I Just know that September/August you will go where you’re destined and you will have the best four years of your life.

Sorry to hear there’s not as much good news as maybe you’d hoped…
However, it is true that rejection/waitlist somewhere is not representative of anything in the future :)

You guys’ll be fine come 1st April. I know it!!!

@Rishav
How have the exams been?

We’ll see how things are come April 1st as that seems to be the last date (well for my unis… I think someone’s last decision is around April 15th?)

Haha, so is Dartmouth your top choice?

@Carib
Well I think we will all do great where ever we end up, hopefully we do end up at the best place for us! :)

@Lemming
True true

So what is everyone else up to?

chill peeps. UChic be fools to reject you.
DARTMOUTH is THE PLACE anyway! :p

@Raith - Exams have been fine till now. I have one left and it’s the one subject that I despise - Chemistry!! :/

And Dartmouth’s in close competition with Pton & Northwestern. I’d be lucky to go to any of those three places!! :D

@Rew
haha, gangsta! xP

@Rishav
Well done for the ones you have sat, and best of luck for chem (also not my favourite… but kinda worked out how a lot of it works… had to study further :confused: I hate rote learning)

Dart and Pton are the places to be! :D

@Everyone: Thank you for your support: you guys are adorable!! :)

@Rishav: I KNOW!!! DOC trips are one of the things I love the most about D!!

Excuse my ignorance, but what are DOC trips?

Dartmouth Outdoor Club hosts first-year trips for the new students before orientation and classes begin. Basically there are different trips outdoor like camping, rock climbing, hiking, kayaking, etc for five days with a few other students in your year to meet new people. And they’re led by dartmouth students I believe

Oh yeah! I heard about this, sounds like a blast. Love the outdoors. Not keen on forests, though, not since I played Slender.

Sounds like a blast, but don’t other unis have the same sort of things?

oh yes, rishav. chemistry. the last ISC chem exam, EVERRRR :smiley:
woosh.
