The day seems to be quickly approaching. I remember checking in December, and had over 100 days to wait. Now 10!

299…

@Rishav
I only applied to 11 unis, most just give me an answer late-ish I applied to a bigish range but all smallish universities.

@PO
Can’t believe D-Day is so near!

@rew - Same here. My daily routine now:
Wake up
Eat breakfast
Open Chem text ---->Sleep
CC
Eat
Chem text book ----> Sleep
FB
CC
Eat
Sleep :p

Only 10 days left. I am getting nervous too and don’t want to wait anymore.

Am I the only person who loved chem at school?

Kind of late but sorry for you guys you didn’t get the answer you wanted from MIT and UChigaco, but as Frenchissima said it is their loss.

Good luck with your Middlebury decision and chem exam :)

Oh I loved chem too! Didn’t like 12th grade physics though. And that’s ironic because I’m an engineering applicant, but I did like the 11th grade physics a lot, and that’s the part I’m gonna be doing in college.

@Rishav
You seem to have such an exciting schedule! xP
Yea mine is less busy… and less interesting :/

@Sunny
I also don’t want to wait any more, the sooner the better don’t you think? Even if it is bad news :P

I enjoyed chem… but it wasn’t my favourite. I preferred Math and Physics by far!! And then Sports and Music :D

Not too bumbed, I just thought UChicago was a given since they seemed interested in me (clearly not)… we all still have a couple more unis to wait for, so we all still have quite a bit of chance left

@Himan
What was the difference between 11th and 12th grade physics for you?

For us in A Levels, (assuming AS in like 11th grade and A2 is 12th);
AS[ul]
[]Mechanics, optics, waves, forces, electricity…[/ul]
A2[ul]
[]Circular motion, electricity, SHM, magnetism, applications of physics principles (telecommunications, direct and indirect sensors)…[/ul]

I preferred A2 :D

@Raith
Yea that’s right and I can finally start planning my gap year when I see my rejection letters.

I didn’t like sport at school, actually it was horrible - my teacher hated me :D

Btw, which essay topic from UChicago did you choose? I loved their topics. I regret that I didn’t apply there. :D

@Sunny
Don’t plan that gap year just yet :P

I absolutely love sports (except cycling and cross country running) :P

I couldn’t decide on a topic (or an idea for the topics), so I actually wrote my own. . . I took my Princeton essay as it explains my principles- the title was to the effect of choosing a quote from a book/essay and describe how it relates to your life. . . Something like that

I’ll PM it to you a little later when I am back on my computer :)

@Raith
Unfortunately I have to plan it, most of the gap year deadlines have already past or are on March 31.

I love sports too but not at school.

Thanks :)

@Rishav and Rew
I too dislike chemistry.

Anyone waiting for Swarthmore decision .I am told they send decisions by mail and not email.

There is too much to remember in chem and nothing’s based on logic :p

@himanshu - I’ve loved whatever I’ve done in physics till now!! :)

@Raith - Believe it or not, we didn’t have sports classes in 11th & 12th!! :o

Does anyone know where quiver’s disappeared?? He doesn’t seem to have taken the MIT rejection well!! :/

And even I used the quote topic for my Princeton essay! It was from David Copperfield and the essay was related to an experience of mine!! :D

@Sunny
Oh ok :/

haha, I didn’t mind at school… though my waterpolo and swimming coach while in South Africa is the world’s worst dk/A***E haha he would punish kids for missing shots by making them do sets of 200m Butterfly! xP

@Rishav
Well we didn’t have them as part of school, but I loved taking part ECly

No idea where he has disappeared off to Wasn’t MIT his top choice?..

I’ll PM you my essay too… I don’t read much and I find it difficult to link these sorts of things to my experiences… I was lucky this quote was in the movie and the original book :D

@rishav
I didn’t have sports classes in grade 11 and 12 either :D

@Raith
What a nice coach. xD My teacher punished me with a D in sports. -.-

@Sunny
Funny thing is that kids don’t get graded for sports… but if one kid missed a few shots… everyone on that team had to do 5 x 200m butterfly was funny to watch and luckily I could leave whenever I wanted to since I didn’t have to do sport :P

@Raith
It really is funny to watch. My brother fenced and when one of them made a mistake or was to slow everyone had to repeat the exercise. It was nice to sit outside on the bench :D

@Sunny
Yea, pretty much the same story… I would have loved to try fencing out though I’m a kinda big target though xP

Talking about sport punishments eh?? These are a few I remember from my basketball & football coaching -
– The most common; 4 400m laps whenever something went wrong.
– Miss a shot during shooting practice in basketball, and we were given the “virtual chair” punishment. Basically, with your back to the wall - you need to bend as if you are sitting on a chair while there is none actually.( from 5min - 20min depending on the number of shots missed)
– In football, whenever a group erred during practice setups - we had to do 360degree rolls for the entire length of the ground!! And the ground was HARD!! :/

But all of those were fun times! :D

@Rishav
Haha, nice punishments! Yea I can list a lot more that came up during swimming and waterpolo… they really weren’t pleasant for me anyway since I am mostly water born xP

My coach was sadistic to me. Guarantee once a session I’d get shouted at from across the pool for not trying, not listening/setting a bad example. Often for threatened to be thrown out of the programme. I’m not even a bad guy! The coach just thought I was a masochist, thought that was what motivated me.

@PO
Did he tell you that he though you were a masochist?! That must be the best story for training
Mine from Mauritius shouted at me to swim faster and harder… but just cause I could have worked harder
