How likely will ED applicants get interviews? I live on the East Coast, so I might be contacted. Still, if Dartmouth responds to applicantions early December, does it really have time for interviews?

That’s the plan. Alum volunteers are primed and ready for that specialized group. My HYP alma mater has sent the requisite emails to us volunteers to ready us for EA and Questbridge applicants – along with clear directives on the write up report deadlines.

Are interviewees selected radomly, or does being selected indicate the school’s interest in the applicant? DD was contacted recently to schedule an interview and I’m wondering if this is just a formality in the process. How much weight is placed on interviews? What types of questions can she expect to be asked? Thanks in advance for your comments!

I was recently contacted for an interview as well! Actually my interview for Dartmouth is tomorrow, but the interviewers normally ask the Typical Why Dartmouth question, what are you passionate in, what do you want to do at Dartmouth, somewhere along those lines.

I think about half of the interview is focused on the applicant, and the other half is learning more about the college itself, by asking the interviewer about the college.

Classof2013Dad: There were some interesting accounts of interviews in the [very long] 2017 ED thread: try working forward and backward from this point:

Thanks for the quick replies! Good luck tlsgur1!!!
