what's up?

2 totally different places, 2 totally different experiences. I suggest definitely visiting both then making a decision

I am also trying to make that exact same decision...I think I'm just going to visit both again, but my gut instinct says Dartmouth

LOL same decision here
any insights? haha how is the social life at Dartmouth?

Dartmouth, definitely (from a Brown student)

Cornell, definitely (from a Dartmouth Applicant LOL)
if you are unsure, why not just do students like me a favor and go to Cornell :D

^jks
like other posters have said, 2 extremely different schools, find out what you like and make a chart and see which one has more "I like" on it :)
good luck

biggest thing imo is the sheer difference in class size

cornell is largest in ivies, dartmouth is smaller
if you thrive in smaller classroom environments, then dmouth is your choice

as for social life, dartmouth is known for its work hard, play hard atmosphere. animal house was based on dmouth but obvsiouly times have changed (dmouth is no longer all boys) I can't speak for cornell, but with so many people Im sure you will find a group to fit your social needs

dartmouth and cornell represent two extremes in what college is about
big vs small
liberal arts vs "any study for any person"
frat centered vs not nearly as much
beer vs hard liquor
smart vs not too smart

ok, maybe not the last one, but

which one are you saying is "frat centered"?...both seem to have a rather large frat presence. and which one is "beer" and which one is "hard liquor"? also, just in terms of the social life, how would you say the two compare?

both have a large frat scene, but at cornell, "alternative" social options are viable. and i'm not saying it's impossible at dartmouth, but you do feel stifled. sheer numbers, man. even if it's the same 40% independents, at dartmouth that's 1600 kids while at cornell that's 5000 kids.
and dartmouth is all beer.

in terms of social life, different people like different things. cornell has more variety, of course. but i'm really boring and don't like variety =P
