Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: I scored a 1920 my junior year, my first time taking it. The coaches said they could work better with me if I got a higher score to move into the 3rd band on the academic index. I took it again and got a 2090. The breakdown was 750 writing, 750 critical reading and 590 for math.
[] SAT IIs: 760 US History, 700 World History, 580 Chemistry. I suck at chem...and math/science in general. I only ever did well in biology.
[] GPA: 91.2/100
[] Rank: Unweighted 110/447.
[] Other stats: I got a 29 on the ACT. I took all honors and AP classes, so the unweighted ranks at my school killed me. I got a 5 on the AP Us History exam, 4 on the English. I'll take the government one this year.
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Apparently very, very good. Everyone I've showed it to(including a few staff at Williams and Amherst) said it was fantastic.
[] Teacher Recs: Very good. Most of my teachers thought well of me.
[] Counselor Rec: Pretty good. My counselor thinks well of me.

[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: Afro-Caribbean(Jamaican and St. Vincentian).
[] Gender: Male
[] Intended Major: Probably something business related. Maybe economics?
[li] major strength/weakness: I suck at math and most sciences save for biology and earth science. On the other hand, I think I'm as good as anybody when it comes to language. [/li][/ul]Other Factors:

I'm a recruited athlete. I played runningback and d-line in highschool but I'm going to Dartmouth as a fullback. I visited every Ivy except for Cornell, Columbia and Penn over the summer. I also visited most of the NESCAC schools("Little Ivies"). I was recruited by Carnegie Mellon, St. Lawrence, RPI, Brown, Amherst, Williams, Bowdoin, Colby, Wesleyan, and Middlebury as well as Dartmouth. Yale pretty much ignored me, while Penn and Princeton sent a few generic e-mails. I have a lot of legacy at Harvard(my uncle is associate VP and his daughter attended as well), but wasn't recruited too heavily by them either. I committed to Dartmouth way back in September. It was an easy decision. I changed my app to ED and that was it.

for those of you who got accepted congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol formatting is ok, i feel strong condolences for those who got deferred. dont worry its not a rejection AT ALL! most deferments get accepted RD anyway.

each and everyone is unique and had incredible stats.

JLAW.. son is a fullback as well. Wasn't recruited. Wish he had been. However.. good luck next year. Based on this year's stats they need some serious rushing stats. You've got a great QB, but seriously.. you better work on your blocking over the summer! :)

my son was also deferred. for those of you counting on legacy - our family goes back more than 100 years in a direct line and 7 people including both my son's parents.
NDNGuy is misinformed when he says deferrments get accepted RD anyway. NOT this year, not at schools who do need blind...check with any Admissions Officer @ any highly selective school.

No. He was rejected. However, he's feeling pretty good considering and I think he is already looking forward to giving these other schools some serious attention. Of course, the only thing he said was, "It would have been sweet to have this whole process over." And you can't fault him that one.

A classmate of my S's got denied Dartmouth last year but into Stanford. So... it's not just numbers, this is certain. (he also got into MIT and Univ of Chicago).

Standardized Testing
2100 SAT
780 US history
710 Math 2

i am confused here. i see A LOT of kids with 2250+ getting referred/rejected.

anyways to those of you who got in, i am really happy for you guys and wish you guys the very best at dartmouth. you guys all deserved it and should be happy that you will all be attending a great great college. to those of us who didn't get in, i believe fate has other plans for us and we will all end up going somewhere great.
