Dartmouth pong

How big a deal is it on campus? My interviewer was telling me about it, and it even has its own Wikipedia article, so I'm thinking it's pretty popular. What do you guys think?

It's pretty difficult to underestimate how big a deal it is. ("pretty popular" is quite an underestimation, IMO) Never, ever even think about playing Beirut here. Pong and the occasional dance party are pretty much the only social things you can do at night here (besides frequently under-utilized options such as watching a show at the Hop).

Johnleemk, can you straighten out the mess on the thread, "when will we find out?" SOmebody in admissions told them D is ROLLING ADMISSIONS and you will start posting in a rolling way over the next 2 to 3 weeks.

I went to three frats my first night there... in each, "everyone" was playing pong...

Oh yeah, I thought that would go without saying - every frat has pong practically every night. There are stories of frat brothers playing pong at 7am. Even many of my teetotaling friends have played pong.

is it rly that fun lol?

even most of the sororities have pong tables... oh my.

pong is very fun once you get the hang of it. it combines sports, friendly competition, socializing, and beer (or water).

pong is basically ping pong with the goal of getting your pong ball to land in your opponents' cups of beer for those of you in the dark.

pong is a staple of the dartmouth social scene, and particularly the greek scene. there's more to life than pong here, but it's kind of a big deal and people take it seriously.

just a word about an alternative for a pe credit: table tennis..
my s 08 restarted the dart table tennis club 4 years ago..students can attend
tues and thurs eve and get pe credit..no experience needed
the better students play club ball thru the new england region playing
once a month during the fall and winter months usually at harvard or boston u ..also attending is mit, tufts. northeastern, brandeis etc..top teams get to
go to nationals...
now do serious table tennis players frown upon beer pong...NOT!!
my son with partner just won the sigep frat beer pong championship
(me and my wife are so proud)
