I also got accepted at UPenn. Any idea on the pros/cons of both schools?

Both are very social ivies whose undergraduates are very fond of them.

The differences are related to one being a large university in an urban area, and one being a small liberal arts college in a rural area.

Nobody knows the differences between the two like the patron saint of dartmouth, Slipper1234 ;) He transferred from Columbia (another big urban research university) to Dartmouth.

My 2 cents (from someone who went the Penn way but still hearts Dartmouth)

-Penn is in a large city. This means more cultural, recreational, restaurant etc activities. The downside is that this means more crime and less of a bucolic collegiate setting (but check out Penn's BIOPOND :))

-Then it's the usual LAC vs University stuff. Dartmouth focuses more on its undergraduates, spends more money per undergraduate, and has smaller class sizes. The tradeoff is that Penn has a much wider breadth of courses for you to choose from (and more foreign languages). And in the defense of my education I will say the chance for intimate undergraduate-faculty experience IS there, but it's not going to be handed to you the way it is at Dartmouth.

You can't go wrong with either, but the two are very different places. Perhaps a visit is in order!

I was in the same situation as you were two years ago and I ended up at Dartmouth. I'm going to echo a lot of what ilovebagels said. Main thing to figure out is what is your priority. For me, my priorities were faculty focus on undergraduates and relative safety. I wish I had the confidence to live in Philadelphia but since I didn't, I ended up at the D. (woot for the Big Green!) but still...I don't envy your situation. Sometimes I regret not going to Penn because of the big city and the fact that I was going to be a Ben Franklin Scholar but eh...it's all good! ^_^ Good luck, DarkHorse! you'll be rockin' in Philly or Hanover either way!

Go to Dartmouth, its smaller and you'll get more attention.
